Stupid Question
So I have a REALLY dumb question for you guys... I bought a big can of 9mm at a gun show yesterday. Is there any need to be worried that the rounds bouncing against each other could set one off? I remember reading somewhere that for under-barrel level-action rifles that was the reason you used the flat-nosed ammo, so that the rounds hitting each other in the tube didn't set each other off.
Like I said, I know its a dumb question.... (I just realized I posted this in the wrong section but can't figure out how to move it. SORRY!!!!) Last edited by zackmann08; 07-15-2012 at 08:37 PM. |

No, even rifle ammo with a pointed tip isn't likely going to go off in a can.

I've probably got a bunch of stupid questions, I just need to remember them.
Here's one, the 'off hand as a benchrest' technique seen here: That doesn't actually work, right? |

I've never tried it, muzzle flash is always a concern. The first guy has a jacket, so he's protected. In the second pic his support hand is on the forend so he's okay. It probably steadies the shot some.

I imagine it only helps if your elbow is braced against something solid like in the first picture. On a slightly related note, I have seen something recently where someone stabbed a knife into a tree to use as a hasty rest but can't remember what it was, can anyone help me out? Think it was a Blaser R93.
