If they are selling for that cheap, I'd take one of each as well.

I'm with you guys, give me one of each. Hell of a deal on vintage rifles.

I'd sell a couple guns just to get money to buy a few of those Garands and Carbines

Well, that would be price paid to the Korean govenment, the consumer price would actually be significantly higher.

And from what I've heard, the sale was actually blocked because a foreign aid, the weapons were actually still the property of the US government, as was standard when they were handed out in the late 40s / 50s. Can't sell what you don't own.

That's what was bothering me. I remember a line from Lord of War where Cage said "When the US leaves a war zone, they tend to leave their munitions behind. It costs more to bring it back than to buy new stock."

Is that really true?

Well, from what the article says, they're not trying to move them as much to profit off of the sale, but rather just to save money on storing them. I guess they could just dump them into the ocean and save just as much money on storage. (But I really hope it doesn't come to that.)

As for the Lord of War quote, I didn't think it was true. I saw something on the History Channel about the army depot in Anniston, AL, and how the army goes through a lot of trouble to refurbish and repair existing weapons, discarding only the most badly worn or broken weapons. An M16 probably costs the Army at least $400 each. It can't cost that much to ship one.
