Default Canik TP9SFX

I've been hearing a lot of good things about the Canik pistols for the past decade. Had an opportunity to buy this pistol NIB (purchased in 2020 - never fired) for $300 from a fellow officer who is clearing out most of his collection because he will be retiring in a few months and will be living in his rv as he travels with his wife. It's a well-made pistol. Came with the case and two twenty round mags. Bought it strictly as a range toy and I have to say the trigger is impressive. What surprised me is that it's a large pistol but it's very compact. I don't have large hands and it's easy to handle. All my other semi-autos are Beretta, Colt, Glock, Walther, Browning and Smith & Wesson. I don't think I'm a gun-snob but I suppose I am somewhat. This pistol impresses me and goes to show that good pistols don't just come from Europe and the U.S.

Nice purchase! How does it shoot? The one downside (so I've been told) is that the TP9 has a higher bore axis than what's common nowadays, but still better than the Glocks that you've been using in your LE career, so it should seem more controllable.

And yeah, Turkish handguns since the 2010s have essentially become what Brazilian handguns were in the 1980s and 1990s: Affordable copies of other designs that are still good quality for the money. I wanted to buy a SAR 2000 last year, which is a good Turkish clone of the CZ-75, but as of now, I've decided that I want my first CZ clone to be an older-gen Tanfoglio TA-90.

Taking it to the range for the first time this Tuesday (06/25). Haven't had time until now. I've been dry firing and playing around with it. I'm looking forward to it. I'm real curious about how it shoots. Going to have a mix of hollow-points and hard-ball.
