How do you differentiate bolt action rifles?
Specifically hunting/sniper rifles.
Remington 700, Winchester 70, Savage 10 and 110. How do you tell the difference? |

bolt shape is biggest key to me.

I usually look at the striker (the hammer part that hits the firing pin) and the safety switch location. Those are two pretty big tellers. Sometimes the magazine/floor plate give away traits too.

POI, what rifles are you having trouble telling right now? Oh yeah, most savages have the accutrigger, which is a dead give away.

I tried looking at the current models of the 700 and 70 on their respective websites and could not tell the difference.

A Model 70 also has the safety switch attached to the bolt over the striker that moves left and right, while a Remington 700 has a switch to the right of the bolt that moves forward and backwards.
