Also, before the end of the Cold War, the SADF would be fighting the MPLA. UNITA received training and even close air support from the SADF before the end of the Cold War (and also the end of apartheid).

Speaking of which, if anyone has seen the leaked playthrough of Black Ops II, it is quite the historical role reversal to have UNITA equipped and fighting like the SADF (down to having the Buffel MRAPs and Eland armored cars) while the MPLA are reduced to a bunch of machete-wielding maniacs with technicals when they had plenty of armor and aircraft themselves.

That was the "twist" I was getting at, but I could be confused. That whole situation is murky to say the best, and Lt. Col. Brown doesn't exactly provide the best picture of it. ![]()

Oh, but it's okay for the Pentagon to force them to reveal similar information for Zero Dark Thirty? Hypocrites... ![]()

I'm starting to get a little bit tired of people I know talking about "Act of Valor" like it's the most realistic war movie ever, just because it stars active-duty Navy SEALs. There are way too many obvious instances where the movie sacrifices realism for entertainment. Apparently, people truly believe that a movie made with cooperation from DoD and the SEAL teams would never dare abstain from being 100% realistic all the time. After all, if the military supports it, their goal must be accuracy, rather than duping teenage boys into enlisting.
Honestly, if I hadn't known that "Act of Valor" starred real SEALs, it would have seemed like a pretty average military-themed action movie to me.

I enjoyed it immensly but I recogonize that it's not winning any Oscars.
Happy Veterans Day everyone! I had one of those surreal moments today...woke up, walked down stairs and was making coffee and one my fratenity brothers asked if I was gonna watch the Falcons game and I replied of course and he chuckled and went to leave for the library as we walked out the front door, he stopped, turned to me and said "Hey Mack, thanks." And left before I could formulate a response.
