Well it depends on the weapon and the mods. The blank mods usually they don't harm the receiver during the conversion or operation. I have seen some conversions that use blank so hot that they will destroy the receiver over time. If you have someone that knows what they are doing it should be okay. I you plan to go back to live fire again you need to purchase a separate barrel and slide assembly for a hand gun. That way you original can be kept for live and the replacement for the blank conversion. The main thing to do if that you do that is to always check the weapon when you go to shoot live rounds. You don't want to have a blank barrel in when you fire a live round.

Unless you want the gun to blow up. Then it might wear out a little faster .
