Yes they are a year round target. the problem with the ones in Grandpa's neck of the woods is that the stupid ones have already been shot so now they keep out of deer rifle range. I wish i had the time and money to get some real hard practice in at his local 600 yard range. There is something satisfying about dispaching varmits from distances where they don't even imagine a threat from.

I'm thinking of trading my M44 for a longer Mosin and putting the sniper's bolt handle and a scope on it

I hunt various animals with a Remington 7400 in 30-06, Mossberg 500 in 12 guage, and Savage Mark II left hand bolt in .22 LR. They seem to get the job done.
