I do buy legal copies of movies I like, but there are a LOT of bad movies that I really don't think deserves my money.

Those guys get paid buy the studios already. The writers don't get the big bucks if the movie is successful or not. Depends on the contracts, which usually aren't that much anyway. If you are trying to say that me not paying for a movie won't get the film crew paid, that isn't true. They already got their money for whatever work.
And blaming the decline in good movies or production value on pirates is a poor excuse when pirating movies isn't the actual problem here

It helps the pirates and hurts the industry. The fact that you're watching a movie which is still in theaters smacks of serious piratry. And it is seriously frowned upon by the industry (and it's lawyers). |
