I've always wondered if hunters take the risk to put some earplugs before taking a shot so I got some free Cabelas Catalogs and saw something called a SportEar. It looks like you can increase your hearing while hunting, and when a gunshot is fired your protected from loud noises.
Hears a link to that site I found:http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...801&hasJS=true I think some actors with money and brains would buy $1500 products that basically look like hearing aids and up to a distance can't be seen by a camera. Hope this answered your question. Every soldier in Iraq would probably want a pair of these. |

I think I heard something about US soldiers currently wearing those but dont quote me on that.
They sell earmuff versions for like $60 bucks, I want a pair. I prefer earplugs to earmuffs because muffs block out TOO much sound, I can't hear any of the cool gunshot. At least I hear SOMETHING if I wear plugs.

All the blank ammo I ever used was very loud. I can't see blank ammo silencing anything, especially because a silencer isn't like a muffler on a car.
My advice, if you are shooting a scene with a gun that is supposed to be silenced is to find a matching green gas airsoft version to the working hero gun, and use that for any "silencer" scenes. It's becoming more and more common for hollywood to use these anyway, and lay in digital muzzle flash and ejecting brass. And a lot of sci-fi flicks like Aeon Flux are building the hero guns from green gas pistols too. |
