Haha, fitting for the hundredth year anniversary, and even more so since that's where Browning is from originally. I guess that means Oregon's state gun will be the Calico? |

Your gun has to have been designed by a resident of that state, or for an easier time picking, built in the particular state. Connecticut gets a choice between like all Colt products except the 1911, and Maryland gets the M9/92FS.

California has quite a few gun companies, AMC, AMT, Claridge, Bryco and Jennings count (prior to Jiminez buying them out and moving to Nevada in 2006) though I believe most of our gun companies do not make iconic weapons that are well known to the world.

I don't think any original designs have come out of Texas. We have High Standard, STI and LaRue though

I guess New Jersey's best claim would be the Colt Paterson, but given that most people are unfamiliar with it, and that New Jersey is very unfriendly to guns, I doubt we'll ever see it. (Sam Colt wasn't from NJ, but it was built in Paterson, hence the name.) Maybe someone can propose a compromise and name the Picatinny Rail the official state firearm accessory.
