Rifle ID: The Hunter ( 2011 )
Hi, just watched The Hunter, an odd little film set in a very beautifully filmed Tasmania. Just wondered if someone could ID Willem Dafoe's rifle in the movie. As far as I know there is no IMFDB page for it yet. Dafoe and an accomplice/adversary are equipped with the same very modern looking rifle and Sam Neill brandishes another more traditional looking gun later in the film.
Shots from IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/media/rm39422991...ef_=tt_pv_md_1 http://www.imdb.com/media/rm3348476160/tt1703148 http://www.imdb.com/media/rm3959076352/tt1703148 Cheers. Keep up the good work. |

THis actually has a page already here, and it is a Keppeler KS V Bullpup Sniper. You probably couldn't find it though as it appears that there is no disambiguation page, but will fix it now.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I just looked at the page for The Hunter and Sam Neill's rifle can't be a Model 70. It's got a Mauser 98 style lever bolt release instead of the push button on a Winchester. It might be an old model Ruger 77 or generic Mauser sporter, but from the setting I'd guess a Parker-Hale from before they started using the Weatherby-style stock.

No, more like a 1200. The thought occurs it might also be a Browning High Power, there were alot more of those made with that style stock, and they both built on FN actions. Ultimately it's some sort of Mauser sporter and short of seeing the markings you'll never be 100% sure. I'm just assuming Parker-Hale because it's Australia.
