Para 1911s any good?
http://www.gunrightsmedia.com/attach...9&d=1297124305
Here it shows a cool set, collector value seems great. Its the same price as most special editions but 2 guns. Wondering on their rep though, do they stand behind their product?

I'm not sure on them Canada 1911s but they do some interesting things to the 1911 design. Check their warranty page and look around the internet for reviews if you're interested in buying one. As far as 1911s and guns go in general, I've officially become a complete snob and therefore desire "genuine articles" so to speak, and so the next 1911 I buy will be an original Series 70 Colt Government, price be damned. Whether or not I keep my Brazilian Springfield is up in the air. |

Springer>Colt
The para, ill look for more pics. its one model thats like a springer milspec, with smooth grips that has gold "100th anniversary" on it. the other is a Double stack 2 tone with ambi safety, beavertail grip, match trigger barrel and adjustable sights, 25 lpi checkering and adjustable sights. 2300 msrp. Good seeing a single colt commeorative is the same price.

As far as value and collecting is concerned, 70's American Colt>2006 Brazilian Springer, and any 1911 that's built right will shoot fine, but I shoot so little .45 now, it doesn't matter anyway.

I just dont like colt as a company, even if guns are good (but more expensive than similar guns.)

http://www.para-usa.com/new/product_pistol.php?id=85 My GI Expert was an okay gun, bought it as a substitute for a Springer Mil-Spec because the prices were out of line at the time on them. (Which I now own.) Had a few feeding issues the last time I had it out before I traded it in. It was still in its "break-in" period so that may have been it. (But to tell the truth I think the break in period only matters on super tight custom 1911s.) It could have also been the mags or ammo, but I doubt it. If I was to get another Para it would a P13 or P14. While Springfield and Rock Island both make double stacks. They don't look as cosmetically nice as the Para's (frame wise).

Ive never fired a double stack 1911 with steel frame. How thick does it feel?

What I think is funny is colt single action armies are actually farther from the original desighn than its clones.
