The rifle version would need a
longer barrel, wouldn't it? Judging by the position of the ejection port in the shell, it seems like a standard-length Mini-14 would fall significantly short inside it.

Not that getting hold of a longer barrel should be an issue, since the government seems to be more concerned with SBRs and the like.
