I like the carry type of holsters that are just a snug fit and you can draw out as quick as you want. Ive tried button holsters and they suck for me. I wouldn't want to have to deal wioth one under stress either, like a methhead running at me. Going into LE as a career though im going to be thinking of what type of holster i want. One thats secure enough the gun wont slide out but no straps, buttons, etc.
The problem with some of those "snug" holsters is that they don't secure the gun very well. If you had to run or jump (as in, if you were pursuing a suspect), there's a risk the gun can fall out.

I'm pretty sure that for most LE purposes, paddle release button holsters are the way to go. That's what most cops have nowadays. Also, depending on what you're willing to pay, the fit and size of the holster will vary. The one I own was cheap (I paid about $20 for it), but better holsters do exist.
