Yes exactly, now you're getting it. It's this kind of neurosis that is responsible for reactionary prohibitionist attitudes in the first place. "I do not like it, therefore I will use the power of government to get rid of it, I fear it and do not understand it, therefore I will have laws written so I can pretend that it will go away." This of course leads to all sorts of ludicrous interpretations of poorly written laws that were not good ideas in the first place, and thus liberty erodes.
