Question Confused about the "Carbine" category

To my knowledge, the carbine classification is purely based on a firearm's barrel length, and has nothing whatsoever to do with a firearm's firing modes or caliber. You can have pistol-caliber carbines, assault rifle caliber carbines, battle rifle caliber carbines, etc. Is the classification then too inclusive?

Right now, I don't know about any "dedicated carbines" on the wiki other than the M1 Carbine, CX4 Storm, and De Lisle Carbine pages. The others are either older pre-20th century firearms or just carbine-length versions of assault rifles (such as the M16), battle rifles (such as the SCAR-H), or even pistol-caliber carbine versions of submachine guns (such as those for the HK MP5, IMI Uzi, or HK UMP).

If one of the current goals for this wiki is streamlining categories, then would it be simpler to just to note on the firearm's page that a firearm is a carbine instead of having a distinct category for it?
