It's really bugging me that every article I fins listing successful reboots is comprised pretty much entirely of stuff that is already an adaptation (Batman Begins, Amazing Spiderman, Casino Royal) or isn't really a reboot (like Rise of the Planet of the Apes or The Incredible Hulk).
However I did learn that The Departed is a remake of the Hong Kong made Infernal Afairs, which I didn't know before, so that can go on the list of successful remakes. I suppose the secret is to remake stuff that nobody has seen, and most people ain't seen Timecop...

Infernal Affairs is really good, you should see it.)
