That is true. Pawn shops will sometimesw yield some neat little treasure. The trigger and hammer are from a different gun. They aren't casehardened. But the serial numbers on the frame, cylinder and underneath the barrel all match.I've seen photos of 1899 M&P's that have recieved indifferent care over the past century so the condition of this one is still very pleasing. I figure for a 109 year old revolver I did okay.
This is one of those revolvers that I never expected to see in person. Figured I would look at photos and maybe see one in a museum.
