Some of my Marines buddies were training in the M16A4s before they got discharged and they didn't really like it all that much. Most of them prefer the A2.

Well bullpup has the same barrel length as a full length assault rifle, so range isn't the problem. Most people just have problems with how to reload.

Wel the brits took too long to even get semi auto guns as a standard in their military. They had a lot of issues when dealing with politics of how to arm their troops.

The US Marines do train everyone to us a pistol, but I don't think any of the non officers get to carry them, special forces get to have pistols as sidearms, backup weapons in the event their primary...
