m14/m1a questions
Clerk at the gunstore was saying the m1as are bad to field strip since it loses accuracy....i thought this was BS. Look it up online and of course tons of conflicting info. Seems stupid to me. A gun that cant be cleaned regularly because it would become less accurate? I doubt the mk14 and m21 wouldve been adopted if this was true.

The idea that if you take apart a gun to clean it and then putting it back together would make it more inaccurate is a bit stupid.
Thats what i tought too. When i move out on my own (hopefully witin a year, job market sucks right now) I want an m1a. And id plan to clean gun every time im back from the range.
Id also consider an ebr stock but need to handle one first, never seen a sage stock anywhere.
It's just as heavy in the EBR stock
The sage is the ebr stock. I just need to know if the ergos work for me. Guns are about performance and feel.
I've held one with the EBR stock before and despite being just as heavy, I like the feel of it. The pistol grip gives it a better feel to me.

hows cheek weld? And i dont mind weight. Im shooting it, not going on 10 mile hikes with it.
Well aside from the weight, it feels pretty nice. I like the ergonomics. The cheek well is adjustable. I didn't really mess with it when I aimed it.

My uncle owns an original pre-ban M1A that he used to shoot in local competitions, and I'm pretty sure he cleans the damn thing compulsively (when I shot it, it was already 20 years old, but it was in perfect condition because of how well he maintained it). If it was less accurate for being cleaned so often, I sure didn't notice, and neither did he. |
