Colorado Batman movie shooting

Since this involves guns and a movie, this would be the place. This guy goes to a midnight showing and opens up with an AR-15, a 12 gauge, and 2 Glocks. 14 are now dead and over 50 wounded. This guy was dressed with a gas mask because he set off tear gas and had body armor from head to toe. I read this article this morning as I was about to go watch the very same movie. I carry all the time and when I walked into my local theater, I could not describe the irony I felt when I saw that the ONE no gun sticker was changed from just a drawing of no gun with one that has writings that state to be cleared "No weapons allowed". If that wasn't bad enough, 6 doors in the front had the sticker. This AMC place had 10 doors. I just shook my head and went to watch the movie |

Apparently, the dude also had dyed red hair and told police he was "the Joker". I'm guessing he's another schizophrenic type who, it will turn out, should never have qualified to purchase a firearm. So...expect more debate about gun control, with the Brady Bunch getting uptight about lacking gun control laws and the RKBAers warning everyone to buy more guns while they still can, and then the whole controversy to die down in a matter of weeks. Both sides will stick to the more extreme positions, neither will notice or care about the obvious compromise approach, and nothing will happen. Kinda makes me feel bad about political polarization in this country... |

When I first heard of it, I felt simultaneously shocked, stunned, and saddened. I didn't feel like myself at all the rest of the day, and felt emotionally stunned. I just hope that the twelve people who died are in heaven and that God is now taking care of them. The families of the victims and the wounded are in my prayers.

Apparently the guy got charged with 24 counts of murder and at least 160 counts of attempted murder today. Also his lawyers are going for an insanity plea.

How can you get charged with murder twice for the same killing? Isn't that kind of like getting tried twice for the same thing ("double jeopardy") or something like that?
