Yet it's okay that the Pentagon ordered one SEAL to reveal similarly-secret information for Zero Dark Thirty, apparently.

And Warfighter was a damn fine game, IMO.

It was an ok game. Intense and a little better than BF3 when it comes to single player experience EXCEPT for the breaching moments. NONE of your team mates assist you in taking out the room. If there are 5 guys in the room, it is your job to take them all out. Bullshit and annoying

I crossed Warfighter off of my list after I played the beta. I knew that they were going to go the Call of Duty route and focus on multiplayer...but Jesus, I wasn't expecting a full-bore screw-up like that. Nothing felt like it was weighted properly, it took entirely too many rounds to down one person, you didn't get enough ammo to actually do anything, and the menus were probably the most confusing I've ever used in a game. So now I'm waiting for a major price cut to even pick up the game for it's single player, and wondering if I should even do that, given everything I've heard about that aspect.

On a related note, I'm starting to formulate a theory about EA games. The quality of their games is directly inverse to the amount of advertising they put into it. The less I hear about one of their games, the better it actually is. If they start launching a full-on advertising blitz, it's probably gonna suck. Also, I'm real wary of ANY game that has Frostbite 2 as a selling point.

Swordfish941 11-10-2012 07:36 PM

I've just started watching Berserk. Its a good anime and pretty violent (although not as violent as Elfen Lied.

So you've never even played the SP, yet you claim they focused only on MP? How can you have made any such conclusion without even seeing what they've done with SP?

I like orange juice more than apple juice, but at least I've tasted the latter to know for sure instead of just assuming it's bad based on a single sip of orange juice.

I read the synopsis after hearing that actually playing through the singleplayer portion of the game was laughably (actually, painfully) short. Now, one of the things I liked about the first game was it's awesome story. Even if that entry's SP was rather short as well, it inspired repeated playthroughs (especially the first Rangers mission). This story however...halfway through the synopsis, I realized I'd seen a similar plot. In fact, about 8 months prior, when Act of Valor was in theaters. Problem is, it wasn't that good then, and time didn't make it any better.

Fact of the matter is, I'm not paying 60 bucks for that. No way, no how. I'm not even sure I want to pay 20 for that. Without getting into spoilers, they took characters I liked from the first outing and either reduced or disposed of them needlessly. They took elements from the first game that I really liked and cut them severely, to the point where they might as well have just gotten rid of them altogether. And from all I've researched on it, what they did leave in didn't mesh together all that well, given all of the reports of glitches, bugs and poor AI and my own experiences with the controls from the beta (remember, this time around, Danger Close handled both areas of gameplay).

k9870 11-12-2012 08:01 PM

I have day off tomorrow, and CODs out. Win-win. wish there was more leaked gameplay, that angola mission was taken down

Excalibur 11-12-2012 09:00 PM

I just watched Skyfall. A lot of nice throwbacks to the classic Bond movies.

It was very good, and i like haven Q and moneypenny as characters now.

SPEMack618 11-13-2012 01:20 AM

I like having 007 carrying a PPK derivative. That makes me smile. It would be awesome if he had a Beretta 418 stashed away in his apartment for old times sake.

I will allow that Bond should occasionally carry a P-99 or PPQ, but only in covert direct action missions.

I'm really surprised that he didn't already switch to the PPS. When "QoS" was in production, it may have been a bit too new, but it's hard for me to see why they didn't bring in the PPS for "Skyfall".

Also, the P99 was always poorly suited to James Bond's needs because it's more of a service pistol than a conceal-carry piece. Whereas the PPS was, like the PPK, intended precisely to be carried concealed.

Excalibur 11-13-2012 03:27 AM

I think it depends on the situation. If he wears that suit all the time, a full size gun is fine as a carry gun

funkychinaman 11-13-2012 05:03 AM

To be fair, the P99 is pretty small for a full sized service pistol.

k9870 11-13-2012 01:36 PM

Its more its the classic bond gun. And looks cool.

SPEMack618 11-13-2012 02:26 PM

I thought it was cool how he packed it the first time in tomorrow never dies, because h was going into a situation wher a lot of shooting would b going on anda duty gun makes a lot of sense.

Excalibur 11-13-2012 05:18 PM

Like I said, it really depends on the situation. Also watching Skyfall, I wonder does he have a holster in his suit somewhere or does he just stick it in his pocket. Because there are shots of him pulling it out of his jacket pocket and putting it back in. I don't even want to guess where his 3 extra mags came from.

I haven't seen it yet, but it's good to hear that Bond is actually bothering to reload. I don't recall him reloading often, if ever.

It's set in the future, right? Twenty years ago, it would've been just as funny to suggest naming ships after LBJ or Jerry Ford, but here we are.

SPEMack618 11-13-2012 11:23 PM

Yeah, but atleast Jerry Ford and LBJ wore the uniform.

S&Wshooter 11-14-2012 01:39 AM

Skyfall would have been 15 minutes long if James Bond carried either a pocket knife, slightly more ammo for his pistol, or a pistol chambered in a decent caliber with usable sights

k9870 11-14-2012 01:45 AM

Funny, thing the Navy is requesting imput on naming the next eight ships of the Gerald Ford class, and apparently, the concencus they are getting is for great battles of the Revolutionary War/WWII carriers with a distinct move away from Presidents.

Even though I think the current crop of Nimitz names are pretty good, with possible exception to Carl Vinson and John C Stennis, but I like both of them better than a nuclear powered USS John F Kennedy or the possibility of a USS William Jefferson Clinton or USS Barack Hussein Obama.

I always thought the English named thier ships so much better than we did.

Swordfish941 11-14-2012 02:14 AM

This is almost as stupid as the TV show Terra where in the future, they had Obama's face one dollar bills.

Welcome to the world of Evangelion. It's an interesting, love hate kind of show for fans.

Oh and watch this. It's a trailer to the Rebuild movies http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYjMswe5uqQ

I know there's a movement to name CVN-80 the Enterprise. Frankly, I can't think of one argument why it shouldn't be done.

It should, considering the only other ship that is called the Enterprise is to be decommissioned next year

There IS a USS Jimmy Carter. My only objection is that it's the USS "Jimmy" Carter, not the USS James Carter. I'm always bothered when an adult uses "y" or "ie" at the end of his name.

Every president from FDR to George H.W. Bush except for Nixon has either had, or will have in the near future, a warship named for him. From Truman on, all of those ships are either currently in commission or will be within a few years.

SPEMack618 11-14-2012 05:45 PM

And it makes sense that the USS Jimmy Carter is a Seawolf class submarine, being that before ole' Jimmy went loony liberal on us, he wore the Dolphins.

I just finished playing Black Ops 2. Why were they using an M16A1 variant in 1989? The A2 was already out by that time. I wished they kept the CAR-15 or some kind of shorty AR-15 variant for the past missions in the 80s. Woulda made more sense for spec ops guys using them.

A buddy of mine who's a reservist was complaining about switching to A1s from A2 in the LATE NINETIES. (He liked the A2 sights better.)

So how is the game? How does it compare to BO1? Or MW3?

Excalibur 11-16-2012 02:17 AM

The controls feels a lot smoother than BO1. It handles a lot like MW.

You can actually pick your loadout before starting a mission in the singleplayer, which is really cool. I can go into 1986 with an AN94, which is a sweet rifle. There's perks and everything for you to pick from.

The story is rather take it or leave it. It did explain the motive of the villain...he's bat shit insane and wants the world to burn, but it doesn't explain how the FUCK did he gain this much power and technology.

The game has a couple alternate endings depending on choices you make throughout the campaign, including a sort of secret ending which you will miss if you don't look on youtube.

Most of the guns are pretty good, though the full auto rate of fire on all the guns is a bit unrealistic. The full Auto FAL's recoil is too managable on full auto and I was surprise the game has the old fashion FAL and the modern FAL.

A lot of the gadgets are cool if not broken at times, like the MMS optic which pretty much allows you to see through walls and cover when you look down, the Storm sniper rifle which sees through everything and shoots through everything. One hit, instant kill.

The wrist launching grenade is cool.

I did not realize that they're basically doing the Highlander thing where every sequel ignores the previous sequel. I loved the first movie, it was the first DVD I ever bought. I think it's ripe for a remake.
