I'll take 4 Springfields, 4 K98ks, 5 of the P-08 Lugers and 5 of the P-38s, wait, are they wartime P-38s or post-war? Okay that's fine. What do you mean you won't accept my money, it's legal U.S. tender! What do you mean it's inflated? It's paper, it's not rubber, it can't inflate! Fine, I guess I'll take my business elsewhere.

Also, do you think those prices reflect a marked increase following the Kennedy assassination? Like, maybe they were even cheaper before 1963?

That 98K is about $200 in 2013 dollars, so yeah that's a hell of a bargain. Oddly the M43 is about $260, so that's actually about right in today's market.

Well, if anyone needs me, I'll be over in the corner crying.

I am sighing right now

My father remembers those days. He's very quick to remind me that in 1963 $35.00 was a weeks pay for him if not more. He was an enlisted man in the U.S. Air Force back then. But he then acknowledges that he wishes he had a time machine and $500.00 in cash.

Since when? You must find them in wonderful CHEAP bazaars....

But I do admit, California is a weird market, There is a permanent markup of ALL guns across the board here. But you won't find ANY good K98s in California for a measly 200 bucks.

Also that 03 Springfield? In 2013 dollars it's 300 bucks. Good 03s are closer to $700-1000 here if you can find them and you can't.

I'd love to find the bargains you seem to get. :D You must have a nose for deals.

You misunderstand me, $200 for a 98K is a HELL of a deal. Up here I've seen totally original prewar examples getting awfully close to $2000. But $260 for a Spanish M43 is about the going rate, they're pretty common and no one up here seems to want them. I chalk it up to the lack of interesting service history, the SCW being long over and never having been used in WW2.
