I've been watching Yu Yu Hakusho Abridged and I have to say that it's freakin' hilarious and whoever does Kuwabara's voice nailed it on the head. I'm now patiently waiting for them to do abridged version of the Dark Tournament.

Is it too much to hope that this bucks the trend of video games-turned-movies and not be terrible?

Just watch the XboxOne reveal trailer. Barely any gameplay, lots of wittering about it being a TV, and it looks like an 80s VCR.
|
Ugh, a fee for used games?
|
Yup, and a new Call of Duty starring a dog. And seemingly set after a meteor shower.
|
No backwards compatibility and you can't bring over your XBLA purchased games. But I can understand that based on technical issues. I'd gladly pay an extra hundred bucks for a plugin module that would allow it though.

IIRC the PS4 isn't always-online to the extent that the Xbox!1 is, so I don't think so.

I wonder if anyone has tracked the success of reboots in the past five years. The Red Dawn, Total Recall, and Dredd reboots all tanked, I'm trying to recall if there have been any successes. |

However I did learn that The Departed is a remake of the Hong Kong made Infernal Afairs, which I didn't know before, so that can go on the list of successful remakes. I suppose the secret is to remake stuff that nobody has seen, and most people ain't seen Timecop... |

I certainly hope this is true. Edit: It's looking more and more likely that this is BS. What a pity. |
Imagine if auto manufacturers started charging "fees" to operate a used car that one buys from a private party or dealer and how the entire country would be in such an uproar over it. Used games (and DVDs and TVs and computers and everything else) are no different.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0CkJgHKEY8 I wonder why we don't hear the RIAA or the MPAA whine about used CDs and DVDs/BDs. |
And the list of reasons why I'm planning to jump to PS4 for the eighth generation just got a bit longer. >.<
Then again Sony believes in charging people to play games they already own, so... |
If there is no fee, then my guess is that they have changed it since the presentation due to the massive negative backlash. Firstly, if something didn't have a negative feature that a lot of people were dreading that it had, there is no way you wouldn't mention it in the presentation. Secondly, it wasn't just one outlet getting the wrong end of the stick, it is my understanding that due to the fact it wasn't mentioned during the presentation people in the room asked afterwards and they were all told that there would be a fee. Also, I don't get how there couldn't be a fee or something, otherwise they have shot themselves in the foot with the full install onto the drive without requiring the disk.

Didn't Orwell already write about this? |

Is the microphone built into the console or is it just an accessory you can, you know, just not plug in?
If this is already widely known info here, forgive me as I'm not planning to upgrade anytime soon due to the fact that I want a game console, not an entire home media system, and am not really following new console development. Seriously, if Sony and Microsoft were to cut a lot of these stupid new features out, they could give people the backwards compatibility that most want and not have to charge the price of a small car for the damned thing. -_- |

I know I'm in the minority though. Netflix streaming via console accounted for 20% of internet usage as early as 2011, I'm sure it's only increased since then. As for Kinect, it's not really easier than just using a normal remote. Given the choice of waving my arms, shouting at my TV, or just pressing a button with my thumb, it's not a difficult choice. |
Personally, I think the creepiest part of XBONE is the fact that not only is Kinect always on, it will be able to determine your heart rate. So it can not only see and hear you, but also tell if you're lying.

Keeps getting better: Xbox1 will only work if it's online and the Kinect voice authorisation means you can't even turn it on unless the owner (of the Live account, so no multiple logins) is present to tell it to switch on.
It's like they're trying to outdo Sony's attempts to sabotage the PS3's launch last generation. "We're not going to do ANYTHING right!" |

Good bye, any chance of my buying an XB1. |
Here's a video series of a feminist about female tropes
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6p5A...FO7wRQ&index=2 and here are the counter arguments which have more points, one of the video is also done by a woman so that it's more gender balanced. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJeX6...FO7wRQ&index=1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...ihi5rB_Ek&NR=1 |

On the plus side, I can finally play my copy of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit online now. On the down side, I actually was okay with the concept. I got to play the campaign for whatever I paid for the used game (basically, whatever was on the physical disk that I bought), and EA got their ten bucks if I decided to use their servers to play online. Companies like EA (voted Worst Company in America two years in a row) don't just walk away from money like this. They'll just figure out another way to screw us. |

How about a list of action stars who HAVEN'T been asked to be in an Expendables movie? (And what does Jackie Chan bring to the table that Jet Li doesn't? Other than being a Red stooge, that is.) |
Though I bought it when it first came out, I recently finished Hitman: Absolution. Let me start by saying I'm a HUG fan of the Hitman series. I like action and gunplay in video games, but the random massive scale of the violence in games like Saint's Row and GTA get to be, aside from completely unbelievable, a bit much for me. And it's really no-thought-involved gameplay.
Hitman: Absolution was, much like the most recent Star Trek reboot, a great action game, but it didn't feel like a Hitman game. The elements are all there. You have instanced levels, you have weapons and disguises to use and collect, and the stealth and patience are all present. However, you're not out on a contract basis and the entire plot of the game is a personal vendetta not an assassin taking out sanctioned targets. While I thoroughly enjoyed the gameplay, I miss the classic Agent 47 game. Next up, lvling all 8 of my toons on SWTOR. Guh. |
Well ok so the new Hitman game is where you're not playing an actual hitman...granted. Still it's fun.
Oh and SWTOR just stopped being fun. |

And the dog's voice is from Forest Whitaker
