Ditto (about Agents of Shield).

And I wonder how many nerds are going to complain about the post-credits scene with Pietro and Wanda (specifically, the powers that Wanda displayed).

funkychinaman 04-17-2014 05:58 PM

It looks like they're actually going forward with the American remake of The Raid. I've long been against the idea of American adaptations of foreign films, especially action films, but the one silver lining here is that an American remake would almost definitely feature real guns rather than going all airsoft.

I saw it in theaters with my girlfriend, my brigade commander's daughter and her "boyfriend" (she's 10)....I have no words....

The unexpected villain reveal was really lame. I called him Insta-douche...cause it came out of no where

S&Wshooter 04-20-2014 06:48 AM

Just got back from seeing The Raid 2, and everyone who liked the first one needs to go see it right friggin' now. I thought it was better than the first, and they seriously stepped it up for this sequel

S&Wshooter 04-20-2014 09:21 PM

Also, I bought State of Decay the other day. It is difficult, but pretty fun

Excalibur 05-02-2014 03:29 PM

Has anyone seen the Arnold movie Sabotage? I wanted to but now it's no where to be found

It flamed out pretty quickly in the box office.

funkychinaman 05-02-2014 07:51 PM

New CoD trailer. Villainous Kevin Spacey is the best Kevin Spacey. This sort of looks like an even crazier version of BO2.

funkychinaman 05-02-2014 09:29 PM

Watching the CoD trailer again, it's hard to believe this franchise started with World War II. You've got exosuits, hover bikes, walking tanks, and invisible choppers now.

Hell, I saw Raid 2 just because my local theater stopped showing Sabotage

funkychinaman 05-03-2014 04:20 PM

Beverly Hills Cop IV in development. Short of filthy standup special ala Delirious, I guess this is the closest we'll get to vintage Eddie Murphy.

Me too. But the appeal of the original is how the SWAT team survive while they become bounty for the residents to stay for free in an unsanctioned raid by using Pencak Silat. afaik, there's not many movies released in US (or maybe none at all) that portrayed police use martial arts and knives, even machetes to kill bad guy on a raid, so I want to know how the production team will do it in the adaptation. And for me using airsoft on the movie is not a problem in the gun restricted country like Indonesia.

Excalibur 05-05-2014 03:26 PM

If you watch the reboot Dredd movie, it has a very similar premise to The Raid. Except instead of a bunch of cops, it's 2 going into an apartment complex controlled by a drug dealer who calls on the residents to her aid and one of the Judges has a history with the apartment or like it and at the end of the movie, it involves corrupt cops.

About the weapon usage of the Raid, I found a little of it being inconsistent. How is a fully outfitted team running out of ammo that quickly, also no reloads for their pistols. They made little attempts to reconfirm to HQ that they are even here and how no one realizes that an entire team didn't show up for work that day or went on a mission without approval. I understand this is primarily a martial arts movie, so the guns needed to go out the window fast.

BlackIce_GTS 05-06-2014 02:10 AM

La Horde is another pretty similar concept. But with zombies! Don't zombies make everything better?
Well, no. The Raid and Dredd were both better movies.

funkychinaman 05-06-2014 03:40 AM

Interesting Cracked article on movie trends.

With all those remakes, how has no one thought to remake The Last Starfighter? There's even a great potential corporate tie-in, since instead of an arcade machine, they could make it an XBox Live Arcade or PSN game.

La Horde was decent, though; at least worth watching. I would have liked it better if literally the stupidest person out of the cops didn't end up being the last alive

Actually Stargate Universe had a similar concept on how one of the main characters got into the story...it was stupid, but clearly Last Starfighter ish plot

S&Wshooter 05-10-2014 11:36 PM

Ordered a copy of this the other day, got it earlier, just started it a second ago

http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Dark_of_the_Sun

So far, the quality is great; way better than expected

S&Wshooter 05-11-2014 01:24 AM

If you liked The Wild Geese, you'll probably like Dark of the Sun

Swordfish941 05-11-2014 03:26 PM

I have a feeling that this piece of shit movie will suck, but will also be a hit at the box office:

The Wierd It 05-11-2014 09:08 PM

He's getting the work the same reason Michael Bay keeps getting work: his movies inexplicably make money. I hate capitalism sometimes.

Batfleck and new Batmobile. It's a shame it's in B&W, I'd like to see the colors.

For as big as Gambit was in the nineties, I'm surprised he's only been in one of the X-men movies.

It actually looks pretty good, and I love how the Batmobile looks like an actual car this time around.

commando552 05-13-2014 10:59 PM

I like my bat-mobiles long, and my bat-ears short. Also, I like the fact that they have finally given him a utility belt that looks like it could actually hold something (you need to brighten the image to make out some of the suit details properly).

funkychinaman 05-14-2014 12:48 AM

There's a The Dark Knight Returns look about the suit with the tiny ears and bat symbol.

Yeah, this is a good pic to show the similarity. People are speculating that it will borrow quite heavily from that (especially with them saying there will be a second power armour type bat-suit), and also from "Kingdom Come" as supposedly Batman has had a falling out with robin/nightwing and has bat drones that help with the crime fighting.

If I recall, Dick Grayson was Red Robin in Kingdom Come. Not only would that be super confusing (with Tim Drake being the real Red Robin,) the original Red Robin costume was a bit silly.

Maybe it's just me, but I prefer the "smash through anything in front of it" look of the Tumbler.

The best Batmobile for smashing stuff is the one from The Dark Knight Returns.

funkychinaman 05-14-2014 04:59 PM

I never understood how the Tumbler could smash through anything with those exposed front wheels.

Excalibur 05-14-2014 06:25 PM

Well it's kinda like a monster truck set really low and it must be heavy. It was designed as a military vehicle

It was designed as a military vehicle that can jump across ravines though which would suggest that it is actually lightweight, which would mean it is probably not the best choice for smashing through brick walls. That jumping gimmick was really stupid though, did they use it in the 2nd and 3rd film or was it just the 1st, I can't remember.

They definitely showed it jumping in the first film, maybe the second film. It had to jump to just get into or out of the Batcave.

I forgot about the jumping part. So it's lightweight with exposed wheels, like a Formula 1 or Indy car.

Ah, back in the days where Frank Miller wasn't a homophobic, xenophobic, misogynistic sack of shit.

funkychinaman 05-16-2014 07:19 AM

I'm not sure how they could do a Blade Runner sequel with Harrison Ford.

<<Spoilers for a thirty year old film ahead>>

Since Deckard was supposed to be a replicant himself (at least according to Ridley Scott), and they said that replicants have a limited lifespan, how would they explain his age? Are they going to do the CGI mask thing they did with Tron?

And I always heard Harrison Ford absolutely hated doing the first one. Why would he come back again, especially with the same director?

Well, this convinces me that Alien: Isolation won't be a train wreck like Aliens: Colonial Marines. And Colonial Marines looked like it had a lot of potential;
