Edit: FCM beat me to it, knew I shouldn't have wasted 10 minuted watching clips from Resolute on youtube... |

Oh, yeah, I had forgotten Major Bludd. I actually watched Resolute on AFN while in the Sandbox.
|
I think Major Bludd dying in Resolute was the first GI Joe character I've seen die in any of the series. (He died pretty early in the film, if I recall.) The Sunbow series never culled the earlier characters like Transformers did in Transformers: The Movie (nothing Michael Bay has done or will do can ever surpass this film.) TPTB even chickened out of killing Duke.
|
Yeah, I remember that. As much as I love Duke, going so far a to use him as an avatar occassionally, I thought that cheapened the story line.

Just saw the new GI Joe movie. They brought in Channing Tatem back for 10 minutes of the movie and we never see him again? We don't hear about what happened to the other characters from the previous movie...that part kinda made my head confused a bit.
Other than that and the Cobra ultimate weapon idea and London getting the shaft again, the movie was really fun to watch |
Also, Ray Stevenson as Firefly can be added to the list of British actors who cannot do an American accent.
|
Yeah, the Adult Swim broadcast was what AFN screened. Got it all in one chunk.
People, my sister, fraternity brothers, squadmates, etc., always ask me why I like G.I. Joe so much. And aside from growing up on the comics and action figures, I realized that the G.I. Joe team is what I aspire to be in the military. Competent, brave, sure of purpose, ably led, and honest; the G.I. Joe is what the U.S. Military should strive to emulate. |
So Disney has shut down Lucasarts which effectively cancels 2 pretty interesting games that were supposed to come out. That's on top of axing one of my favorite TV series Star Wars Clone Wars. So far, Disney is not winning me over with its purchase of all things Star Wars. Next thing they'll do is take away writers' ability to make Expanded Universe novels and comics

As for Lucasarts, I've been reading about it these past few days, and look at it this way: they're a shell of what they used to be, and they're still going to license Star Wars games to third party developers, so it's not like we're never going to get any more Star Wars games. |
The show did NOT wrap up nicely. It left on a huge cliffhanger with more closure. You really need to see season 3 through 5. It got dark as hell starting in season 4

So I finally got around to playing Medal of Honor: Warfighter yesterday. I didn't think it was all that bad.

With Disney shutting down Lucasarts the other day the chances of 1313 coming out are looking slimmer and slimmer, particularly annoying as it was pretty near completion, and the fact that it now appears that Boba Fett was the player character. |
You want dark, go watch the episodes where Darth Maul returns...holy shit those were just dark and disturbing. Or how about the season 4 episode about the slavers. or maybe the episode where Anakin straight up leaves a guy behind to be pretty much be killed for double crossing because the spy was in love with his wife

I've actually never considered Star Wars Clone Wars a "kid show". It has a lot of themes that younger audiences might not understand much. There's a lot of politics and emotion in the story that even adults can enjoy.

The thing that always bothered me about the show is that kids now think Anakin is a hero. I was discussing the show with my little cousin, who was five at the time, and I found out that he had never seen episode III (which is a lot darker than I and II,) so he had no idea that Anakin was Vader. (And I'm sorry to say I inadvertently spoiled it for him, but come on, is that still considered a spoiler?) |

I tried to watch the Clone Wars on CN, even went and saw the movie with a buddy of mine, specifically saying that I wanted a chance to root for the clones as good guys. However, couldn't get past the mood whiplash of the shoe bouncing back and forth from swerious arcs to kiddie arcs.

Interesting article by a shooter and a game designer. |

I can't quite bring myself to say "Olympus Has Fallen" was bad, but the CGI felt like something from the Sci-Fi channel monster movie of the week type film.
And even good old Morgan Freeman just seemed sorta flat. And the fact that they conviently overlooked the Marine Barracks at Eight and I, specifically positioned there by Thomas Jefferson so as to have Marines within easy marching distance of the Capitol and White House. And the obvious idiocy with the C-130 gunship. And for all that, I just can't bring myself to say it is bad. And why the hell do people insist on putting ACOGs on MP-5s? |

The effective range of an MP5 is 200 meters but when used in full auto and when your target is from the gates of the White House to the actual building itself, you might want to put those ACOGs on rifles than SMGs

I would like to see an example of any sort of commando unit making use of an MP-5 at 200 meters.
That kinda range is when bust out the assualt rifle, and hell even less than that. My ACOG did far better service as a poor man's monocular than as a combat gun sight. 'Course, most of my actions invovled spraying return fire towards the direction of muzzle flashes. If the squad leader is blowing through mags, something isn't working right. |
