True, I just wish they'd keep it to themselves. I'm not a filmmaker, but if I were, I'm pretty sure I'd keep my politics to myself when making movies.

Here's a new one: Paul W. Anderson. What do you guys think of him?

You mean Paul WS Anderson? The guy who did Death Race, Event Horizon, and the Mortal Kombat?

He does a decent job of game adaptations. I'll admit a lot of his movies are fun to watch.

I have a long list of directors.
But I must say that I enjoy works of directors who know all aspects of moviemaking.

Jim Jarmusch
Paul Thomas Anderson
Coen Brothers
Francis Ford Coppola
Martin Scorcese
Ridley Scott
David Fincher
Paul Greengrass
Steven Soderbergh

The list goes on.

The main reason why these directors are very good at what they are doing is not just because they know everything there is to know about moviemaking (the camera, screenplay, photography, sound, editing etc.) but also they always work with the same film crew. And they do their homework. They do extensive research which in my opinion is the most important part of moviemaking. I could make exceptions. Sure.

There are also certain directors who make films when they feel like it. Such as Frank Darabont or Terrence Malick, director of The Thin Red Line. That was a wonderful film. I recommend you see it if you haven't already.

Chris Nolan is good.. He's getting there. He added realism to the Batman franchise and I enjoyed it.

As for Michael Bay.
In my opinion, Michael Bay is a spoiled brat. He is that rich kid you know from high school who has a Porsche. He was born into money. What did he make before "Bad Boys"? He makes movies full of destructions. Something explodes every 5 minutes.
That is not movie making.
I'd like to see if Michael Bay can make a low budget movie. And I know he can't. He couldn't afford all the explosives and cgi.

James Cameron is a decent director but I consider him more of a filmmaker than a director. And there is a difference between the two. He is very creative. Amazing imagination. Very much like George Lucas.

I enjoyed watching "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford". The director's name is Andrew Dominik. He is fairly new but he knows what he is doing. See his work. You might like it.

An occasional explosion is okay in a movie, but an explosion every five goddamn minutes gets really annoying. The guy ain't a movie maker. He's just an idiot.

Here's one: David Cronenberg. What do you guys think of him?

I've only see Fly, A History of Violence and Eastern Promises by this guy. Good movies, except no role can make Jeff Goldblum not this stale actor
