That's because Viggo is an awesome actor. After Lord of the Rings, he had nothing but good roles.

It is a rule that if Viggo Mortensen stars in it, even if it's a mundane part, it can't suck.

I know. Have you seen The Road? Boring as hell without Viggo.

In my opinion, Michael Bay is a spoiled brat. He is that rich kid you know from high school who has a Porsche. He was born into money. What did he make before "Bad Boys"? He makes movies full of destructions. Something explodes every 5 minutes.
That is not movie making.
I'd like to see if Michael Bay can make a low budget movie. And I know he can't. He couldn't afford all the explosives and cgi.

For what it's worth, IMDB reports that the estimated budget for Bad Boys (his first movie) was about 10 million. Don't know what your definition of low-budget is, but $10,000,000 nowadays will barely buy you a decent advertising campaign, never mind funding for a film.

And Bad Boys was good. He's spoiled because he has a huge budget to play with. Cut the budget, and suddenly you can't mask poor writing and wooden acting with `splosions.

(Really, $10 million? With two big, albeit at the time, television stars, nice gunplay and a nice car chase? I'm impressed.)

Well, according to wikipedia, Bad Boys I was made in $19,000,000 of 1995 USD. How much would that be worth now, adjusted for inflation? I'm sure you'd come up with a better sum than $10,000,000.

$26,488,590.52. It only goes to 2009, but I don't think that much has changed in 2 years.
