IIRC the PS4 isn't always-online to the extent that the Xbox!1 is, so I don't think so.

I think they said that always online would be based on what the game needed.

I wonder if anyone has tracked the success of reboots in the past five years. The Red Dawn, Total Recall, and Dredd reboots all tanked, I'm trying to recall if there have been any successes.

From a quick search, the only reboots that have made over $100,000,000 (that is just the arbitrary point I picked) are The Amazing Spider Man and Robin Hood. There are a few other things like films that are only kind of a sequel like The Incredible Hulk, or sequels that are far in the future like Tron Legacy and Terminator Salvation, but there are not really reboots. TBH I was amazed whilst looking through how small a percentage of films are actually an original IP as opposed to a sequel, reboot or based on a true story or other media. Probably only 1 in 4 is an original idea, if that.

I don't know if I'd really count Amazing Spider Man and Robin Hood. They've existed as IP for decades (and centuries) and these are just the latest movies that have been made. When I think "remake," I'm thinking of films based on just that one previous film. Maybe I should limit it to remakes or reboots of stuff that have come out in my lifetime. For example, Oceans Eleven, 3:10 to Yuma and True Grit did pretty well.

Those were the only two I could instantly see, and like you said even those aren't really "remakes". Similarly with True Grit, that wasn't just a film, it was originally a book (which I believe is more what the recent movie was based on rather than the John Wayne one from the 60s). It's really bugging me that every article I fins listing successful reboots is comprised pretty much entirely of stuff that is already an adaptation (Batman Begins, Amazing Spiderman, Casino Royal) or isn't really a reboot (like Rise of the Planet of the Apes or The Incredible Hulk).

However I did learn that The Departed is a remake of the Hong Kong made Infernal Afairs, which I didn't know before, so that can go on the list of successful remakes. I suppose the secret is to remake stuff that nobody has seen, and most people ain't seen Timecop...

I think that may be the key. Total Recall and Red Dawn are on TV all the time here and are well liked. (Infernal Affairs is really good, you should see it.)
