Promotional stills

I really don't know how to phrase this, so bear with me:
From the very beginning I felt a bit uneasy about promotional stills. Partially because they are not shots from the actual film/ television show, but mostly staged shots for, well, promotional purposes. And because they break the look of most pages. Great pages like that of Stargate SG-1 for instance simply feel wrong for me. I see two good wide-screen pictures and suddenly this huge photo stretches just on and on.

I personally prefer shots from the actual show/film, off the DVDs or Blu Rays.

I prefer to put the promotional images first.

I don't see what's wrong with them. They're usually better quality than anything you'll get from the DVD or even Blu Ray, so they show the gun much more clearly. For purposes of ID (which is what IMFDB does), that makes them preferable, IMO.

In some cases, I've seen movies where a particular gun is never shown very clearly at all, but a promotional image has a better view of it. For example, I used a promotional shot on the page for Air Force One that shows a much clearer view of an M4 than you ever see in the movie itself.

There are times when the promotional still is superior. If they're huge I just reduce them in size.
