We Were Soldiers.

I really liked this movie. Has a great script and a great acting.

One thing that i also really liked is that all the uniforms the NFL, NVA and the US soldiers wear are all genuine and realistic. High ranking officers and NCOs have more than one unit patch, meaning they served in another unit other than the 1st Cavalry division. Theres all the genuine Equipment that the US soldiers and NVA use that are also pretty impressive. Props to Steve Karnes and Mike Papac for that. It's the closest thing to A Vietnam War Saving Private Ryan we got.

Yeah it was pretty good, though I'm not a fan of Mel Gibson. I liked pretty much everyone else who starred in it though.

The movie was ok, that's all I can say

When I watched it, it never really wowed me. But as said, Mel Gibson was a poor selection for the leading man.

It was nice to see people knew how to use the M16's bolt release though, I rarely see that used in movies, if ever. And Sam Elliot wasn't too bad, he's your typical old-guy of the Vietnam war, and would rather ditch his Mattel Toy and draw his .45 when the shit hits the fan.

Yournamehere 08-03-2009 08:35 PM

The way Sam Elliot fired that thing was really unrealistic, but badass enough for it to be excused. He has the coolest goddamn voice too.

Gunmaster45 08-03-2009 08:37 PM

Yeah, you don't charge attacking soldiers and blast away with your pistol with one hand from about 5ft away.

And he's quite a badass, but I don't think he's properly taught how to use a gun. Always has horrible trigger discipline and gun handling, but that's all disregarded because he has a cool voice and doesn't flinch.

One thing i didn't like was that the charge that happens in the movie didn't happen in real life. They just pulled out after cleaning all the bodies of both the Charlie and the US.

Gunmaster45 08-03-2009 08:44 PM

What an exciting ending that would have been, right? ;)

They could have followed what happened to the other American Unit in the battle. The other LZ, Albany took more heavy casualties than Moore's LZ. They killed more VC and NVA too.
