I had just laid down to go to sleep, and I start feeling two things: Pressure, all over my body, keeping me from moving, and a weird presence, as if someone is standing next to the bed right up by my face. A couple seconds later I start hearing a horrible noise (There wasn't any actual noise, it was all in my head), like a very large group of people kind of moaning in pain a fair distance away, and it began getting louder and louder, and I somehow knew that I *really* wasn't going to like what would happen if I didn't get that noise to stop and that presence to leave ASAP. My first thought after that was "Oh God, help me", which was immediatedly followed by "Try The Lord's Prayer", so I ran through it twice, and everything went back to normal for about 15 minutes. Later on, when I was right about to fall asleep, the whole thing started over, but I ran through the Lord's Prayer again and the presence left and didn't come back.

The wierd part is, other than the first few seconds, I wasn't afraid until it was all over with, and I somehow knew for certain that everything would be okay and that it was safe to sleep.

Okay, that's nothing short of creepy.

I have no idea who either of them are.

No shit; I was terrified after I had considered what had happened for a minute afterwards. Then I got over it and slept like a baby. I had an overwhelming feeling that something was going to happen last night, too

Sir John Keegan dies in August and I'm just now hearing about. What the heck?

Man, this guy was one of the best historians in the world. His book, The American Civil War, is, in my opinion, the best general history of the American Civil war out there.

He will be sorely missed.

MT2008 12-04-2012 05:44 PM

Taking the AFOQT on Thursday. Here's wishing I'd started studying sooner.

Yeah, it was all over my Facebook newsfeed when it happened. I studied abroad in London a few years back, and a bunch of my Brit friends were in the War Studies Department at King's College. We bonded over discussing Keegan in our tutorial sessions, haha.

Belated R.I.P. from me, too.

SPEMack618 12-05-2012 12:16 AM

Sir John and Max Hastings have surpassed any American, with the possible exception of David McCullough as my favorite historians.

Rockwolf66 12-05-2012 02:37 AM

Well I have about 1/3rd of that first story chapter re-written. I hope to have finished with the writing this week and get it posted soon.

SPEMack618 12-06-2012 01:09 AM

Reading the new Tom Clancy book.

Not to spoil anything, but I can say that John Clark is now rocking a Sig P-220 with a supressor and Ding Chavez is back with a Beretta 92. All is right with my world.

I was reading the Houston Chronicle this morning and saw that a 79 year old man living in my town karate chopped a burglar, took the Mini-14 the burglar was carrying away from him, and held him at gunpoint with his own gun until the police came.

Rockwolf66 12-06-2012 11:13 PM

I'm Another year Older and My parents are taking me for Steak and Chocolate cake.

Swordfish941 12-06-2012 11:48 PM

Happy Birthday, dude!! Enjoy your steak and cake.

Rockwolf66 12-08-2012 05:42 AM

Thanks Swordfish

SPEMack618 12-10-2012 12:55 AM

This would of made Neon Genesis Evangelion much more enjoyable (at least for me).

Rockwolf66 12-11-2012 04:01 AM

Well I'm several pages into the re-write of an old story. the S**t is about to hit the fan in story.

Not only is it re-written to flow better but it's going to be longer than the ten pages the first chapter started as.

MT2008 12-11-2012 08:43 PM

I did quite well on my AFOQT. Guess that means that the Air Force will probably take me, provided my interview before the officer board goes well (and that's not until April/May).

SPEMack618 12-11-2012 11:41 PM

Cool. In regards to the selection board, if my ex-girlfriend can do it, so can you.

Swordfish941 12-12-2012 12:39 AM

Cool, what AFSC are you looking into?

Haha, yeah, I hope so. Without sounding too arrogant, I would kinda expect them to take me, given my education (B.A. + M.A.)

I want something in 1N, preferably Geospatial Intel. I already have a lot of research experience using ArcGIS, too.

SPEMack618 12-12-2012 02:17 AM

Yeah, they are paying for her to go to law school with a direct to captain upon passing the bar. Four years active duty and eight in the reserve.

I was informed, after helping her prep for Maxswell, including dropping a significant chunk of change on give-n-go bikini briefs in black, white, and nude, she decided Air Force lawyers don't mix with Army Cav Scouts.

That's cool.

MT2008 12-12-2012 02:37 AM

Also, I finally met Nate Fick tonight. Considering I am a huge fan of "Generation Kill" and "One Bullet Away", I was geeking out. He was really flattered that I liked his book so much.

Oh, man, that's rough. Talk about ungrateful. It seems like everyone I know has a difficult time maintaining relationships in the military. You over it yet?

SPEMack618 12-12-2012 02:47 AM

Dude, that is awesome. read Generation Kill as a freshmen and One Bullet Away at WLC.

Yeah, I'm over her.

Actually, that was a while back, new girlfriend, who I reference here all the time, is great! In fact, she should be more properly titled girlfriend(promotable).

Yeah, she could deal with Afghanistan, but not me having no desire to commission.

Sadly, you will have to get used to that...GFs who are always on the lookout for the bigger, better deal. Personally, I think it's better to identify them as such early in the relationship. That way, you can avoid disappointment.

SPEMack618 12-12-2012 03:20 AM

Concur whole heartedly.

She didn't mind standing on the side of a flight line wearing a big floppy hat so long as she thought I was going to be an officer one day.

But when I decided I wasn't going to let hr brow beat me into doing ither ROTC or OCS, she decided to pack her bags.

Fine with me. Didn't want to be her first salute anyway.

Mmm... yes, I did, too. Though I had to rewind that bathtub scene a few times since I had an... ahem... difficult time following what was going on. It was... complicated. :D

Way freaking cool! How was he? I remember watching an interview with him (I think you might have given me the link) He seemed like a pretty squared away guy.

Yeah, I had to roll the dice on about four multiple choice questions and left to short response ones blank.

That being said, I felt like I knew far more on the test than I didn't know.

I almost got arrested while still being technically "dressed" once, it is a matter of opinion whether other people want to see it or not.

SPEMack618 12-13-2012 12:57 AM

One of my Fraternity Brothers nearly went to jail th night we got Bin Laden for stripping down to his Captain America underoos and perching himself atop the fraternity house with his guitar and a bottle of cheap bourbon.
