Thankfully they call them mags but really...you drop special forces guys deep into Bolivia with cool clothes but poorly equipped guns?

Not to mention no optics, foregrips, lasers, or grenade launchers. I suggested a feature to carry over weapon and skill unlocks on the official forum only to be met with responses like "this isn't an RPG".

I think that starting with unrealistically basic weapons is the sort of thing that falls into the catagory of "it's a computer game". If straight from the jump you have the best possible weapons and equipment, you would never change anything. By starting at a more basic level they can add the extra mechanics of levelling up equipment and finding caches to acquire more weapons and attachments.

Excalibur 03-20-2017 03:13 PM

That is utter BS when it comes to previous Ghost Recon games where you pretty much start off with a basic loadout that does have optics and proper equipment. I get that if you start this game with a "started rifle" and add a basic optic of some sort and that's it but seriously? 20 round mags for ALL guns, even the pic up guns from enemies. That's just stupid. The one good thing I can note is enemies aren't bullet sponges

Been playing Mass Effect Andromeda and there is so much lazy in the design. I am not even touching on the much debated subject of graphics, facial expression problems and occasional clunky dialogue.

A lot of the weapons are taken from the previous games with the loose excuse that because the expedition left our Galaxy at the same time frame between ME2 and 3, they should have all the same guns and that excuses them from designing more newer guns. They retcon how you reload all the guns, though they are cool to look at. They got guns that didn't exist in the time period of when the expedition left the Milky Way.

There's a lot of potential to this game but damn is it a mess. I can get pass most of it if they fix the character animations. Fuck, how hard was it for them to get people who knows what they are doing?

I hate to parrot stuff that 4Chan says, but from what they're saying, there were a LOT of people hired based on diversity and gender, rather than skill. Don't know if it's true or not, but it's just what I've heard.

Excalibur 04-07-2017 01:43 PM

Looks like the new patch does fix a lot of problems, but not all of them and I am feeling the whole too little, too late vibe. This type of crap should of have happened to a triple A title like Mass Effect.

Saw Kong last night. They missed a good opportunity for a lore easter egg by not naming the ship that John C. Reilly's character lived in "Venture".

This is true for most media produced by more than a few people

Actually the huge ship wreck in the movie is called The Wanderer after the original ship of the old movie

Picked up Infinite Warfare from the library. The first two levels didn't impress me, but once the spaceflight missions started, the game (pardon the pun) really took off. It's the greatest Battlestar Galactica game never made. My biggest gripes are Jon Snow as the leader of space ISIS, and that despite having nearly eight hundred crew members, the captain and XO of the ship still have to fly combat missions AND lead commando raids.

The part where the captain and XO going off ship is cliche fiction like Star Trek and other series like it. I was getting a lot of Mass Effect Vibe

The Martian's being these genocidal assholes that wants to take over is more of the type of super nationalistic enemy types that Call of Duty is known for. They're basically the Russian Ultra Nationalists from Modern Warfare...in space

There was potential to flush out the backstory on why the Martians are this brutal and what's their view point of the war.

You know, while I know that Halo isn't exactly the most talked-about topic here, and I already made a massive post about it, I still have to say that I'd be lying if I didn't want to own a Paris-class frigate.

http://img07.deviantart.net/1862/i/2...by-d8fdohb.jpg
I mean seriously, 535 metres long, just as maneuverable as a 747, has a full fighter and dropship complement, and has (extremely limited) capability to deploy ground vehicles (That wedge sticking out the bottom is a cargo bay and loading elevator). Not to mention a bunch of 50mm automatic railgun turrets, and a whole ton of missiles.

https://secure.static.tumblr.com/d72...skc_640_v2.png
Did I mention that the most of the upper prong contains a massive coilgun which launches 600-ton depleted uranium cored tungsten slugs at 30,000 metres per second?

Also, I can't upload an avatar for some reason.

If I want a ship from the Halo universe, it'll have to be the Infinity. That thing's do big, it has 10 frigates inside it that it can drop out.

I was impressed by the Pillar of Autumn from the original game. Given the last level, that ship must've been miles long.

funkychinaman 04-13-2017 02:32 PM

A three developer rotation, and we've already run out of ideas.

According to the wikia, it was only 3,840 ft. Not even a mile

While the Infinity is 18,682 ft. That's more than 3 1/2 miles.

They would have ran out of ideas if they did like a Police Warfare, or their take on Red Dawn, or actually remake an 80s Red Dawn. They could try WWI, Korean War is when they've really stretched out of ideas or at this point, make shit up

Has anybody seen the trailer for 6 Days? It's about the Iranian Embassy Siege

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0arz5Pdkn_w&t=2s

Already see that they are using Airsoft in some scenes because I saw an MP5SD with the obvious Airsoft barrel inside the shroud and the last part of the trailer, the MP5K has a Navy trigger group

And none of the MP5s shown had the huge flashlight that was used during the incident

I think one of them does, when they are stacked up in the corridor just before the assault the guy in the middle has one, or at least a facsimile of one. This scenen also shows a couple of glaring errors in the weapons though, in that they have F type stocks and the flash hider of the muzzle, both of which are anachronistic for the time (at least they have slimline handguards so that is something).

I'm not sure if the MP5SD is an Airsoft, the barrel looks too thick for that and it is weird that it appears to be hovering inside an open ended suppressor (an Airsoft would look more like the real gun). I wonder it it is actually a real mp5 mocked up as an SD with a barrel shroud resembling the suppressor. Either way, this design of the SD is also anachronistic, the kind used during the assault was the early prototype like the bottom one here. I also do not think that they were actually used in the assault, as there is only one that has every showed up in pictures and it was being used by one of the trooper along the back wall. I seem to remember hearing that they were actually short on MP5s at the time and this is why SDs were used by non-assault team members, which is kind of backed up by the fact that the other troopers along the back wall were only armed with a pistol.

Along the same lines, the big torches on the top of the MP5s were less common than people might think as these happened to be quite prominently shown in a couple of famous photos. If you look through all the photos though it seems that these were in the minority, as for example none of the four guys who went in through the front window with the frame charge had them, one of the four who abseiled down to the balcony had one, and only one is visible out of at least 4 who went in though the back door. While talking about mods, one of the guy abseiling also had a funky sharply angled front grip on his MP5.

Although the trigger group is wrong, the MP5K used by people on the roof is correct as seen here.

No, the ship in the original was the Venture, too.

Excalibur 04-17-2017 02:04 PM

I think the 1933 movie was called the Venture and the book, it was called the Wanderer

New clip from Resident Evil: Vendetta. Still better than the live action movies

And is it me or did they John Wick the hell out of Leon. Also they poorly portrayed the recoil of Leon's gun, like it has no recoil.

It's nice that the Niihau Incident is getting a movie. It's just a shame they've got a white guy playing a native Hawaiian.

Ben Kanahele is the guy on the left. Not a white guy.

I'm surprised it took them this long to redo SWAT.

The presence of real Black Hawks seems to imply Pentagon assistance. Are there civilian owned Black Hawks or S-70s?

When I heard the SWAT shooting their rifles in full auto bursts, that broke immersion for me.

I've been playing Deus Ex, since watching the Accursed Farms (Freeman's Mind) guy's video on it

Excalibur 06-01-2017 02:18 PM

Have not thought back on replaying Mankind Divide. It really was a mess of a story filled with stupid analogy to today to push forth an agenda

With John Wick Chapter 2 out on Digital, I'm surprised no one's already capping it

The official DVD release date is the one that counts for us, and that doesn't come until June 13th.

Edit: Okay, the rules say VOD release date, but I use the DVD release date to officially roll pages from Now Showing to Incomplete.

I've been trying to play Fallout 4 again, but I really have no clue what I'm doing.

Odd old rule since the digital release date is practically an official release date. Just that they now do it way before the physical copy coming out.

I just had a new computer built and it detected everything to max setting...awesome times ahead.

Where are you stuck at?

I just bought Witcher 1 & 2 because they were on sale altogether for less than $5. Hoping I like them

Try to skim through the first game. It has a good lore but like games of it's time, not that good in terms of gameplay but the sequels, 2 and 3 are awesome.

Excalibur 06-12-2017 03:52 PM

E3 trailers are coming in. I'm actually interested in the new Metro game and the new Wolfenstein

Swordfish941 06-22-2017 03:41 AM

The new Wolfenstein game looks pretty damn awesome. And I'm also excited for the new Metro game.

I REALLY love the third game. It ranks up as my favorite RPG of all time.

Excalibur 06-26-2017 03:50 PM

So, with the Steam sale going on, I bought The Division to give it a try again. Still remembering it had a lot of potential but a nice way to waste my time.

I liked the concept (especially being a junkie for the post-apocalypse and open world genres), but being someone who prefers to play solo, I didn't care for it being tailored specifically toward multiplayer.

And even on the lowest difficulty level, even the weakest enemies are monstrous bullet sponges. I remember the first (and only) boss I encountered and thinking "Great mother of Zeus!" when I finally defeated him after dying at least a dozen times.

Apparently, they have since patched the game a few times that going solo isn't as bad. Most of the time, you need to take it more slowly. There are guides to building a solo specific player and thankfully, there's no service you have to pay for on the PC.

The game is mostly a pick your battles kind of thing if you are going solo. Use all the tools as often as you can and watch your flank because enemies will try to get behind you. A lot of the AI is somewhat realistic. They will try to rush you and stay behind cover if you are suppressing them.
