For a couple hours and then it sets in how much of a Team Fortress knock off it is and how there is no plot and the respawns are bullshit.

Yeah, you pretty much described my opinion on it now. But I also bought The Killer so it wasn't a total waste.

And how the maps are full of murderous chokepoints, let's not forget that part.

Oh forget the chokepoints, just the stupid respawns

Well, they're a big part of why the respawns are so annoying. Games tend to be

1. Everyone charges into a ridiculous chokepoint
2. Almost everyone dies
3. Everyone respawns at once, in the same place
4. Everyone charges into a ridiculous chokepoint

It's like trench warfare in miniature.

I've just got back from seeing The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Best frakkin' movie I've seen all year, and its as every bit as good as the original.
It was good...until they completly screwed up what happened to the girl they were looking for, GGRRRRRRRRR!!!!! I couldn't figure out what happened until I looked the movie up online. SPOILER WARNING:

Hariet(sp) assumed a relative's identity and is living in London now, the relative being dead. In the book, Hariet went to Australia and the relative is allive and in London. So stupid, especialy since the book explained why the flowers came from all over the world.

I'm kicking myself for not buying Skyrim. It looks sooo fucking epic.

It is soooo fucking epic. I mean, it's like everyone cool part of Conan (not the shitty remake) with five types of elves and dragons. It's good stuff, I've sunk over 100 hours into it.

I used to play Skyrim...then I took an arrow to the knee

Ugh... (but it's still a better idea than a Red Dawn remake.)

I'm not so sure, the Red Dawn remake, even in its "China-friendly" form, is sounding much better right at the moment.

Excalibur 01-11-2012 05:27 PM

The Red Dawn remake should either be made right or not remade at all

I've railed against the remake before, and I don't want to go into it again, but my main objection is that the original Red Dawn only worked because of the Cold War. It's the same reason why Rocky IV worked. You need the fear-mongering, you need the paranoia, you need a real threat.

I would not object if the remake had been set in say, 1982. But then, why even bother?

Fantasy scenarios makes for entertainment i dont watch movies for geopolitical realism. But bowing to the chicoms sucks.

Anyone here play or have the Warhammer Space Marine game? If so, any thoughts?

Pick up the gun, don't try and use it while it's mounted.

Any good? I heard it was a bit like GoW.

Evil Tim 01-11-2012 11:46 PM

It's ok if you play it in short bursts, but it gets a little exhausting if you just sit down and play it through. It's a bit like a cross between the two games called GoW (the other being God of War) since it's very melee-focused. I'd file it under "games that are ok if you get them second hand."

With as much as I use the chainsaw in Gears of War, you can argue that they're both very melee focused. Alright, thanks.

This would've easily been one of the top five games for NES ever.

Saw Haywire today, it was disapointing. The plot was weird, and i wasn't realy sure the how or why of her getting set up. The hand-to-hand stuff was good, though the film's only real gunfight was spoiled by making going black and white and playing music over everything, turning a potentialy-cool firefight into a dumb attempt at art. Also, the movie seemed too short, though I'd like to see Gina Carano in more action movies.

Swordfish941 01-21-2012 11:52 PM

My dad bought me Skyrim. And it is awesomely epic. I can't get enough of it.

Put a lot of time into raising Blacksmithing so you can improve your gear

k9870 01-22-2012 04:19 AM

And lay some beatdowns on those stormcloaks.

Excalibur 01-22-2012 05:34 AM

I thought about going to see Red Tails on Friday but then it suddenly snowed a LOT

Not there too mainstream and overdone, there also racist assholes. And the jarl is a wuss who sent his men instead of ighting himself, his city is also a dump, if he cant run a city, he cant run a country. Especially a diverse one, nobody will follow him. The thalmor would steamroll in and everybody loses.

only one can stand up to the thalmor though.

BeardedHoplite 01-22-2012 06:58 PM

And the Stormcloaks don't got that late Roman Empire vibe going on.

k9870 01-22-2012 07:11 PM

I liked to be different, i know a lot of people who just jump on the rebellion because its a rebellion, its mainstream. they dont notice that they are racial supremacists who cant run a town. The empire has people of all races and allows jarls to run there own places. Its like a state/federal split. And also who cares about talos worship, research it, the worshippers want to destroy the world.

Spartan198 01-23-2012 11:36 PM

I've been playing Saints Row 2 almost non-stop for the past 4 days.

I thought 2 was much better than 3 myself.

S&Wshooter 01-24-2012 06:30 PM

I've been working through the Dark Brotherhood quests on Skyrim.

Last night, I ended up stabbing the Emperor in the heart after killing every single member of his protection detail present in the entire country, his body double, and the whole crew of the boat he was on.

Excalibur 01-24-2012 07:20 PM

I just saw Red Tails. It's pretty good and not very preachy about "the struggles of the black man against the white people"

The only reason I got 2 was because it was $18 vs. 3's $60 (3 had just released a few days before I got 2), otherwise I would have gotten 3 instead. But considering I can't put 2 down, I'm most definitely satisfied with it.

The car customization feature is a dream come true and what I always wished GTA: SA's was.
