Saw Baby Driver yesterday. Its a really good film and very stylish, with awesome chase scenes and a kickass soundtrack. I tip my hat to Edgar Wright.

funkychinaman 08-04-2017 01:20 AM

I know they've been kicking around the idea of a Death Wish remake for a few years, and here it is.

Anyone see Atomic Blonde yet? Good spy film, Makarovs for days, and one of the most brutal fight scenes I've ever seen. Psedo-long take down a stairwell and though some apartments.

Hm, this is bound to be better than some of the Death Wish sequels Cannon Films made.

Excalibur 08-07-2017 02:15 PM

And it takes place in Chiraq. Glad I don't live there anymore

Not really feeling Bruce Willis in the role. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Bruce as much as the next action movie fan, but Bronson is much like Clint Eastwood, Bruce Lee, and John Wayne in that he's of a slightly different mold of action hero.

Mandolin 08-10-2017 04:13 PM

So, anyone see the pictures of Josh Brolin as Cable for Deadpool 2?

He's got a horribly bastardized weapon that looks like a Vector with a Thompson stock, AR-15 quad rail, and a M203 on the bottom.

I'd like to know who cludged that thing together, so I can congratulate him on his kitbash skill and then shoot him for creating such an abomination to good taste.

The problem I have with that gun is that it is so obviously just parts attached together. It doesn't look like it was really "designed", more like it was just built from bits that happened to be laying around.

Excalibur 08-11-2017 04:27 AM

On the plus side. He is carrying spare mags

Spartan198 08-11-2017 10:11 AM

I am a little disappointed they didn't or couldn't get Stephen Lang.

Now, if only he uses them.

I think he's busy with the Avatar sequels no one asked for.

Speaking of James Cameron, THR has a nice article with Robert Patrick in time for the 25th anniversary re-release of T2, where he talks a bit about training to fire his Beretta without flinching and reloading. As great as that movie was, and as impressive as his performance was ripping through an entire mag without flinching, what's the deal with the sound editing? You're firing a 9mm in an enclosed hallway, and it literally goes pew-pew-pew?

Spartan198 08-18-2017 10:39 PM

The Colt/Detonics sounds the same in most scenes it's used, so probably an aesthetic choice by Cameron.

Mandolin 08-20-2017 12:16 AM

Anyone else see Wind River yet? Good-to-great murder thriller from the writer of Sicario. Good gunfights too.

Excalibur 08-21-2017 07:44 PM

I just found out the movie 6 Days is on Amazon.

I guess no US theatrical release then?

Excalibur 08-21-2017 09:53 PM

Not sure, I have Amazon in another tab right now with the movie paused.

I checked and it was released already last week and only a small amount of theaters are actually showing it

To be fair, it looks more like a firearm than any gun that Rob Liefeld has ever drawn in his artistic career.

Anyone, I saw The Dark Tower last Friday with my dad. I thought it was good. I know a lot of people hate it because it's too different from the books, but I didn't mind that. I just started to read the Dark Tower books (I'm already on the second one).

And it isn't the worst Stephen King adaptation out there (I'm looking at you, Lawnmower Man).

funkychinaman 08-24-2017 01:20 PM

There are good movies, and then there are faithful Stephen King adaptations. Rarely do the two meet.

Think they'll put the part where the kids all bang into the new adaption of IT?

I heard the new IT doesn't even cover present day, it's all from when they were kids.

And I certainly hope not. That scene was jarring and out of place even in the book.

I heard that the present day part will be covered in the 2nd part.

Yeah, I REALLY hope they don't include the kids having sex. There are some things that should be left out.

PRETEEN sewer orgies. (Note to self, consider "Preteen Sewer Orgy" as fantasy football team name.)

Sounds more like a garage band name

There have been plenty of oddball band names in music history, from "Aborted Hitler Cock" to "Razorized Ball Gag" to "Dayglo Abortions."

Speaking of It, I just saw it today. Really damn good, and it scared the hell out of me. Bill Skarsgard was creepily awesome as Pennywise, and nailed the role. He honestly makes Tim Curry's Pennywise look like Krusty the Clown in comparison.

Excalibur 09-11-2017 02:30 PM

Currently playing Destiny 2 and...never played the first game and so far...I'm liking the feel of it.

It has a sorta futuristic mystical fantasy about it. A lot of the guns have clear inspiration from real guns. So far, I'm using a gun that looks like a bullpup AK in a DMR role.

S&Wshooter 09-12-2017 04:28 PM

I just downloaded Borderlands 2 the other day, going to give it a shot

You should've seen the first game. The first gun you get is literally an AR carbine with a bunch of futuristic attachments on it, Elysium-Style.

And in the Expansion, they added a whole manufacturer of realistic weapons, including what was a combination of an ARX160 with a SCAR-H.

No it isn't, it's a clusterfuck and you have to make sure everyone stays roughly the same level

http://screenrant.com/predator-2018-...-setting-tone/

Huh. Interesting. I'm not going to say that The Predator will immediately suck because it has a suburban setting. At least its doing something different this time around. And I already love the new cast that the movie has, with a lot of quality actors.

And I admit that I loved and enjoyed that other Predator related movies that have come out (except for Aliens vs Predator: Requiem. That movie was a piece of shit).

If it is anything like Predator 2, I'm down for it

inb4 ending is the 'nam vet down the street freaks out and kills it with his Remington 870 slug gun thinking it's Charlie

You know a franchise is in a death spiral when it goes into "ignore the prior movie" mode. The Terminator franchise has done that at least twice now.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/09/...ignore-genisys

I just watched Genisys a few weeks ago, and I rather liked it. I think it may have lost a few casual viewers with some of the time travel explanations, but it didn't seem too outlandish if you're used to sci-fi. There's only so many ways to explain why a T-800 would look like a man in his sixties, and I think they pulled it off nicely.

Excalibur 09-26-2017 03:11 PM

The Terminator series really should have ended with T2. It changed the timelines and left the ending opened and then they made several more other ones including a sorta near future thing with Salvation, which I kinda liked until Skynet was turned into an evil Helena Bodham Carter

Yeah, I like to pretend that the Terminator films end with T2.

Also, is Skynet in Genysis has gone from evil Helena Bongam Carter to evil 11th Doctor?
