Denziel Washingon saved my life(bullet setback)

I was watching the movie Man on Fire and I was at the scene where the character Creasey was attempting suicide and when nothing happened, he racked the slide to see the round. For some reason that made me do the same thing to my 1911, which was in the room with me at the time. I picked it up, ejected the mag and cleared the chamber and then when I got a closer look at the round, I noticed it was seriously set back into the casing and I know what could happen if I had shot it. Serious malfunction or even serious damage to my gun. If I had to use the gun right then, my gun could have potentially failed on me.

So yeah, watching an action movie might have possibly saved me the trouble or even my life.

Have you been chambering that round over and over again?

The amount of chambering it'd take to have that happen is immense, so probably.

I've been rechambering a round in my Hi-Power for months now and I still haven't seen any bullet setback every time I've checked for it.

Apparently 1911s are known for really setting back their bullets a lot.

I set a .45 ACP round in my brothers 1911 in under 10 rechamberings and a .40 S&W in under 20 with my XD to the point that I wouldn't want to shoot it. I tried it with a 9mm Hi Power and couldn't get it to set back after doing it probably 30 times and then I just gave up at that point.

So this happened the last time you attempted suicide?

I wasn't trying to shoot myself. I always have a gun near me at home.
