Seriously wicked.

That is funny.. reminds me of all those stories of shits who steal or rob and then post selfies with the stolen goods on FB and get promptly arrested hours later. As they say, play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

And I agree - That Apache-Osprey looks bitchin', especially from the side like that.

My town may be shit, but there are some occasional interesting sights.

So recently-ish I decided that my back injury keeping me from doing things, like shooting and hunting, is unacceptable. Into the gym I went, starting in December, and I am starting to feel so much better

Anyone got an idea what this gun is? It's at the Virginia War Memorial in Richmond labeled as an M4 Carbine, but obviously isn't. It has an A2 receiver with a fixed carry handle, an 11.5" barrel, and a 4.25" moderator.

Any ideas?

Kinda Terrible picture:

The muzzle device is too long to be a real US military one, so my guess is that it is permanently welded on to give the rifle the minimum 16" barrel length for normal civilian sales (like this one). As for specifically what it is, I think it might be an Olympic Arms carbine as it appears to have the "Stowaway" pistol grip that they had.

Edit: Just to add, that isn't an A2 receiver, but an A1E1 as it has the A1 style rear sights. OA also tended to use this design on their earlier weapons rather than the A2.

I agree with Commando - That doesn't look to be a real moderator but rather the phony seen on Colt CARs which were strictly cosmetic and, as Commando said, permanently welded to make it legal length. I also agree with the base gun being very likely an OA given the Stowaway grip and A1E1 receiver, so I guess it's an OA rifle fitted with a CAR-style barrel.

Although I'm wondering if it's actually some kind of dummy since the trigger looks filled in. Hard to tell with that picture though.

That said, that's kinda lame to be passed off as an M4 but I guess you make do with what you can get.. Still would be nice if they could be a bit closer there.

Also the top left, which I figure they might call an M16A2 isn't that but an A1 fitted with A2 handguards.

Yup, that's an A2 with A2 handguards. And did you see the Cobray flare launcher on the M16A2 below it? They're calling that rifle a "AR15 HBAR" or something.

What kind of broke dick war memorial can't even get their hands on surplus, much less of items not in current issue? I imagine there's like a million CAR-15's and M16's sitting in crates in some warehouse somewhere, gubmint ought to kick them a few

Went up to my deer camp with some friends for a bachelor party-ish thing, since my friend is getting married next weekend, spend a large chunk of Saturday shooting. Figured some stuff out because this is the first time I'd REALLY shot since my injury and acquisition of new stuff

Model 39 runs 100% fine, love it

LCP runs fine, and I can shoot okay with it. Definitely not too small

The holster that the shop I worked for had made for me works fine with my S&W autos; I'm quite faster on the draw than anticipated, too

I BADLY need to practice because I cannot shoot the same way I used to. I get tired quickly now, and bracing myself in a solid shooting stance now might lessen my ability to breathe freely. This and some minor shaking, and the lack of practice, mean I could definitely put someone in the ground if I had to but my groups and such are TERRIBLE

Holding up a rifle isn't hard anymore, but I can't do so for as long as before

I'm a bad shot with plain black sights, best off with 3 dot like on my FNX and 4506

There is no comfortable way for me to hold and aim my Parker Hale or Mosin, now; it wasn't ideal before, but barely workable now

All the dry-run mag changes I've been doing are paying off, can swap my handgun mags quickly without fumbling even if I'm out of breath, in pain, and starting to overheat

My SKS-D is impossible to reload on a full mag, totally forgot
