I can't seem to recall any other time when a reboot/reimagining of a franchise was done by the original creators. What's the point then if you're not bringing in someone fresh?

Well I hope they just make a movie starring the cast of the TV series or in the same canon

Ugh, it was the trailer to the new Equalizer film starring Denzel Washington. From just the trailer, it looks like they could've just as easily turned this film into Taken 3. Anyway, this link ought to work.

Maybe they just want to throw the old stuff out and start with a fresh slate?

If you really wanted a fresh take, you bring in new blood, like JJ Abrams with Star Trek and now Star Wars. (I'm not saying it was necessarily for the better, but it's fresh.) There has to be some young talent in Hollywood willing to put their own spin on Stargate.

Saw A Million Ways to Die in the West today. I think the trailers gave away too many of the funniest scenes, but it was okay.

I think they tried a "young" spin with Stargate with Universe and that show didn't turn out well...it's bad when a parody of that show actually happened BEFORE the show.

There's a good chance this will be an incoherent mess. The miniseries adaptation of The Stand was based on the original, shorter version of the novel, ran for six hours, and still cut out a lot of stuff. Now they're proposing to cut that in half?
