All I can ask about the Iron Man trailer is....where the hell is AC/DC?

Speaking of Iron Man, I made a fan cast for him a while back: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansit.../news/?a=66316 |
I just got back from seeing "Seven Psychopaths". It was better than I expected, and I was expecting it to be pretty good. Not enough Tom Waits, though
|
Saw Argo this past weekend. It was pretty good. Awesome scene where a CS grenade ricochets off the pavement and hits an Iranian in the face.
Like that scene in "Generation Kill", but better because you are sitting there just wanting the Marines to start spraying into the ground. |
Return of the Living Dead is turning out to be awesome

Looking up Branagh's filmography also revealed that they're doing another Jack Ryan film, with Chris Pine in the lead role. Chris Pine? He's supposed to play a Naval Academy lecturer and CIA analyst? I also saw they're finally getting around to doing Without Remorse, which I think has been kicked around for over a decade.

After the "Hat Trick" mission (a reproduction of the Richard Phillips rescue), I'm a little disappointed MoH: Warfighter didn't have one reproducing the bin Laden take down. :(

One of my problems with the game is the breaching moments. In real life, you take on your sector of the room and trust your buddies take out their sector. In the game, it expects you and you ALONE to take out the whole room. There could be 4 guys in all directions and orientations and you are expected to take them all off and you start from the center of the room. On the harder difficulties, this is annoying impossible. Without Remorse is my favorite of the Clancy books. |

Arnold hitting the gym and getting back into Conan shape should be half the story right there. It'd make a great documentary. |

Yes, and it needs to be a stand alone film since the Jack Ryan continuity is shot to hell. John Kelly just doesn't work unless he's a 'Nam era SEAL. For crying out loud, the man makes John Plaster get a hard on. |
George Lucas has sold his soul, kind of literally. He has sold Lucasfilm to Disney for $4.05 billion, and they will be making Episodes 7, 8, and 9 to start being released in 2015, then every two years. I fear that the entire expanded universe is about to be totally flushed down the toilet... Or they could make movies about the Thrawn trilogy which would be great, but no way this would happen.
|
They want to set the story 30 years later, which means they are bringing back some of the old actors. It could be possible that they might not even use the EU as a source.
|
Keep in mind, when Lucas announced that he was making another trilogy of Star Wars films fifteen years ago, people were actually excited. Now, people are filled with dread.

Bad news, everyone, the new Star Wars films won't be based on the Thrawn trilogy:

There is a guy at Lucasarts who maintains acontinuity Holocron (database) who basically keeps all of the the parts of the EU straight, retcons things and states what is higher priority canon. He is going to have a fucking seizure when these films come out. |
No offense impliead or intended to any of the EU fans out there, but to me, with the exception of the X-Wing series, I was not that big of a fan of all the EU stuff.
|
Aside from a few of the video games I never really did anything with the EU in.

Oh, don't get me wrong I loved the Rogue and Wraiths, which I lump together under the X-Wing umbrella, and I though Ambush at Bakura along with Shadows of the Empire were good, but other than that, I just sorta shrug and go "meh", and showing my inner nerd here, I read a fair chunk of the EU books, and comics, really loved the ones talking about Col Celchu and the dark, arly days of the Alliance.

im liking assassins creed 3 but i dont have tomahawk or second pistol, i hate waiting to unlock things
-actually gota pick up tomhawk at store, wish i had second pistol though there useful for heavy enemies |
Fighting seems a little more tougher than in the previous game. Maybe it's because I kinda suck, but the introduction of the muskets really changes the dynamics of battle when you engage a bunch of guys.
The story seems a little slow to pick up. I thought I was playing Connor's dad forever |

Bring it on. |

Sadly, Ben Affleck seems to be doing pretty much the same thing nowadays. I think when "The Town" came out, I complained that I wished Affleck had cast himself in Jeremy Renner's role, and vice-versa. |

As for keeping the franchise fresh, this is a case of not all progress being good. My intuition is that the franchise is better served by directors who have demonstrated adeptness at directing quality summer action films rather than Oscar bait. Martin Campbell is exactly that type of director; Marc Forster and Sam Mendes are clearly not. |
With the exception of Moonraker or perhaps Octopussy, I couldn't stomach any of the Roger Moore films.
That being said, I liked both of the Timothy Dalton films. |

Here's a hypothetical then: which Bon film would you rather see, one by Quentin Tarantino (who apparently has always wanted to do so) or one by established summer action movie director Michael Bay? |
I started playing Dead Island yesterday, thinking it'd be a quick zombie game. 11 straight hours later, I was barely into Act 2. I hate it when that happens.
|
so in ac3 im being chased by british guards and run into a patriot fort hoping they fight, but instead they team up on me?

If you asked me whether I would prefer Tarantino to Martin Campbell, I would still say Campbell without thinking about it. Tarantino may be a talented filmmaker, but he is talented at making a certain type of movie. Bond movies are not, and should never be, anything like "Reservoir Dogs" or "Pulp Fiction". |
All a Bond movie needs is a villain who wants to destroy the western world, inept intelligence officials who doubt Commander Bond, a hot chick who may or may not be of use but should be required to have atleast three panty shots during the course of the movie, and a desperate attack by commandoes led by Commandr Bond who is armed only with a pop gun going up against guys with AKs.
I present you with the rough plots of Thunderball, Diamonds are Forever, Goldfinger You Only Live Twice, Octopussy, The World is Not Enough, The Living Daylights, which coincidentally I consider some of the better Bond films, excluding Goldeneye, which is my favorite simply because the Gitmo Marines don't arrive until after Bond has fought all the Janus mercenary hoardes with his mouse gun. |

BTW, QoS we better than those two by a long shot. |
