Except that Islamic terrorists are an actual threat...North Korea isn't.

Spartan198 12-19-2014 11:47 PM

Once the Great Leader's most recent temper tantrum gets forgotten, the world will move on and the movie get a quiet DVD and/or VOD release.

Excalibur 12-20-2014 04:58 AM

My counter is that I bought a copy of Team America for cheap...just to spite them.

Swordfish941 12-21-2014 05:07 AM

I saw The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies today. It was pretty good, and the action was awesome as well. And I wasn't bothered by the +2 hour running time (unlike Transformers: Age of Extinction.

Is that the fake rocket launcher from Robocop 2?

No, the one from robocop is much cruder and fake-er looking. Also, the sight on the side is just a box that is a parallel to the tube, as opposed to that which is more complicated and the sight is angled like on a Javelin (pretty sure that is what it is meant to be a mock up of). Whilst watching this video to try and see the launcher to confirm, it also turns out that there is a Redeye launcher in the background as well.

I'm surprised the commercial got past government censors. A group of Chinese saved by Captain America himself?

I recently got Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, and it's a really fun game. My only complaint about it is that I keep getting swarmed by Uruks and die, allowing some orc to rise in rank.

But I have been able to take out the Four Warchiefs.

I heard the last gen port of the game wasn't as good. Which system did you get it for?

Xbox One.

And I recently defeated one of the Black Captains.

Saw "American Sniper". I have mixed feelings about it. I was impressed by Bradley Cooper's performance, but that's about all - it's not as well-written as I expected. Too much expository dialogue from Sienna Miller as Taya, which is a hallmark of inept screenwriting. And in case anyone thought it was authentic, Brandon Webb has already reviewed the movie for SOFREP.

I suppose I should give Clint Eastwood credit for going all the way in portraying jihadi burtality (the scenes with the drill), which has often been too much to ask of Hollywood.

Oddly enough, Act of Valor had a scene with a drill.

So how about the firearms in the movie and handing? Good? Accurate? Assorted?

Ah, yes, thanks for reminding me. ;) I only remember the drill carnage in that movie being implied, not shown, though (Googling confirms my memory is accurate, too). This movie leaves nothing about the drilling to the imagination. And it's done to a kid. I'm pretty sure that sets a new bar for depiction of Islamist savagery in cinema.

As for your second question, I would answer with "assorted". Considering the cooperation that this movie had from the naval special warfare community, I guess I expected better. The fact that I am an IMFDB member means that I'm more likely to notice inaccuracies like Kyle carrying a SIG 226 (in real life, he used a Springfield TRP Operator and then a SIG 220), or the fact that he's still wearing the old DCU and carrying a Mark 18 by the time the movie gets to his fourth deployment (by that point, he was using the HK416 and wearing desert digital cammies, according to a picture from his book).

I would definitely pay money to see this. It would be interesting to see what Blomkamp could do with an Alien movie.

Swordfish941 01-03-2015 06:31 PM

This looks really good. If anyone can give cinematic Vampires their dignity back, it's Guillermo del Toro:

I don't think that Noah deceives to be on the Razzie shortlist. In fact, out of all of the religious movies that came out in 2014, Noah was probably the best:

Trailer for the new Ant-Man movie has arrived:

I'm still waiting for Daredevil to debut on Netflix. That's the only Marvel show that I have even the slightest interest in.

Spartan198 01-09-2015 09:12 AM

Batfleck killed--no, murdered--any interest in Daredevil I once had sadly.

I got my interested in Daredevil revived by Frank Miller's run.

And that was when Frank Miller was a good writer. It was before he made dog shit like this:

It's awards season, and this will be the only time Michael Bay's name comes up:

Well, this wasn't surprising.

Also, would I be an asshole if I compared Michael Bay to cancer?

funkychinaman 01-15-2015 02:25 PM

How the eff did they not nominate The LEGO Movie for Best Animated?

If I can get away with bombarding Michael Bay with radiation, I would.

funkychinaman 01-15-2015 08:36 PM

Oh well, it would've been weird seeing him back in the DC universe after playing Bane anyway.

Look on the bright side, at least "Everything is Awesome" got nominated for Best Original Song.

Liam Neeson will be throwing rocks in Taken 4.

Jackie Chan may just be a mouthpiece for a repressive regime, but his blend of fighting skills, comic timing and showmanship can't really be replaced. I have no idea who they'll cast in his place.

I would suggest somebody like Jay Chou.

And hopefully, they'll get somebody who's not as annoying as Chris Tucker for Carter.

I think Jay Chou may be too big of a star in Asia to slum it on American TV.

And I honestly don't now why they wouldn't just ask Chris Tucker to come back for this. What else is he doing?

funkychinaman 01-27-2015 09:38 PM

He may be too goofy for the role, but I can live with it.

I think Tucker had a part in The Silver Linings Playbook.

New Fantastic 4....After 2 bad ones, I don't think this one will work either no matter how much Nolan they rip off from in their trailer.
