Here's a good article on the HS 1911's. Not sure how old it is. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m.../ai_n16741478/ |

It'd be neat to go over to the Briley shop and have them trick it out a bit
|
Accompanied a buddy to the gun shop the other day. I saw that Stoeger Cougers were slightly north of $400 new. Anyone have any experience with them?

Oh and also, a Stoeger Cougar should be under 400 bucks new, I see them for less all the time. I have no experience with them other than handling them at gun stores, though I'm sure they handle fine. I'd save up a little more for something better though. |

Does anyone have any experience with the P-83? |
Hornady makes a great defensive round, and wolff springs are supposed to help the trigger pull.

Examples of other guns in and around that price range http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=251043173 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=251060607 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=250975579 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=249662493 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=250832543 Ignoring FFL fees and tax, I see similiar guns to these all the time at gunshows at similiar prices |

It's my understanding Cougars are just compact M92s. |
>M92
>not just "92" But seriously, the Cougar employs a different locking mechanism, but is still mechanically functional as the 92FS is, or at least it looks that way in terms of controls. Even so, with the right gunbroker auction, or even by stepping in the right local store, you could find something better at or around that price range. As for the SP2022, it's sort of a budget gun by SIG. I'm sure they're nice, but it's still one of those "polymer guns made by a company who isn't known for making polymer guns but decided to make a polymer gun" guns. I feel one could do better with their money still, especially when a ton of P228s have been imported by PW Arms and are ending up on the market in crazy numbers as the pre-B CZs and the Hi-Powers from PW Arms before them, though you have to pick a gun that doesn't look like it's seen ridiculous use, and you have to tolerate the import mark they are forced to etch on the side of the gun (I can't get over them it ruins the aesthetic every time for me, but others might). |
I'm thinking of selling my Remington 700p and getting an EEA witness compact as a carrygun.
|
the stoeger cougar is the beretta cougar...they just moved the machinary to Turkey
|
I'm looking for a compact pistol that I can CC AND use in my range's action pistol competitions. It has to be double-stack, 9mm, preferably DA/SA, and preferably around $450 or less.
CZs are too heavy, HPs are too big. I got a bit burned on my Walther P38, so I'd prefer new to used as well. I have a Stoeger Condor, and it's been fine, so I have no problem with the company. And $409 was for the Inox. |
CZ too heavy? Looked at a p01?
|
Got the p64, pics later, should post some pics of my blade tech rig also. Cameras dead and heading to work so ill get it done maybe tomorrow.

Heres the p64 in my hand. Here it is with the holster, holster holds the gun and a spare mag, its kinda cool since its the original but not a very secure design, kinda floppy. http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...Badass/002.jpg Mag release takes some getting used to, sights aren't great but more than enough for this type of gun, DA pull sucks ass but sa is a target trigger, no joke, its great. Can't wait to shoot it, i have a wolff spring for the trigger. My hand is a bit big and when gripping thumbs tend to touch slide, dont know if this will cause a problem. slide only locks on an empty mag and will not release forward unless mag is dropped or a loaded one is put in, no slide stop means racking slide on reload is a must. Ill give more impressions when i shoot it. |
Sorry noticed i put same pic twice here you go:
http://s1235.photobucket.com/albums/...urrent=001.jpg I want to buy a shoulder thing that goes up. |
bought some psitolsmith punches so i can change mainspring, the da pull on the p64 is unusable and i dont like condition 3 so ill change the mainspring once its here. I weighed the trigger it is 5 pounds but honestly feels lighter as afterthe takeup there is very little travel before the break. Im also getting some sandpaper to polish up the feed ramp.

Ordered a romanian tokarev today.

Looking up a 1911 to own one day.
My 1911 needs the following things on it Front cocking serrations A rail for a light/laser Ring hammer, better beaver tail grip Night sights - can get some after buying it. Need to research some good mags Though I am liking the Springfield Parkerized with all of the following except the rail |

As far as magazines go. While everyone loves Wilson's. They are pricey. Mec-Gar or ACT mags work just as well and are about 10 bucks cheaper. http://www.imfdb.org/w/images/e/e0/S...Armory_TRP.jpg |

They have the non-TRP Operator and it won't have the checkering. You also get fixed sights. Maybe it's just with me. My hands get eaten up more by the rear strap of the gun than the front. |

RIA has a full rail 1911 out right now called the 2011 I think. If you're going with budget. Not too many railed 1911s out there are modestly priced. |

Sights are good for a mil gun of the time, better than a gi 1911 as they are larger and easier to see. Trigger breaks just over 5 pounds. |
