Is it my imagination or does it look like that revolver has an orange band around the tip of the barrel that was painted? and the paint is wearing off, thus implying strongly that it is a replica of some kind.

I can see it too. I thought using non-firing replicas when a live blank-firer wasn't needed was a relatively common practice?
