So many Glock's. Which is your favorite

I want to hear your opinions of which Glock would be best overall and your favorite one. I'm not sure what my one is, probably the 22

Excalibur 11-27-2012 01:30 PM

I will always stick to the idea that the .40 caliber is a compromised round because the 10mm was awesome.

9mm is more than enough for a carry gun if not, go .45 or 10mm for power.

My favorite is the 19 for carrying.

Spartan198 11-27-2012 02:02 PM

I've always liked the 35 ever since playing Dini Crisis.

SPEMack618 11-27-2012 02:05 PM

I carry a Glock 21, but my favorite would have to be a Glock 17.

Further more, I would not tarnish the awesomeness of the 10mm cartridge by shooting it out of a Glock. Delta Elite or 1076 only.

funkychinaman 11-27-2012 04:44 PM

I'm thinking about getting a 19 for carry and competition.

You'd be surprise how awesome the Glock 10mm is. A buddy of mine carries a 29 as his off duty gun all the time

S&Wshooter 11-27-2012 05:22 PM

I always thought it would be neat to have a Glock 19, but I need to shoot a few different models of Glock before I pick a favorite (although I know for a fact that it won't be the Glock 17)

Excalibur 11-27-2012 05:59 PM

The 19 is good for carrying. Not too large, not too small.

Rockwolf66 11-27-2012 06:03 PM

Mine is the Glock 20. I'm hopeing to get one soonish as around here we have bear, Cougar(the bad kind), and packs of feral dogs.

Yah, a friend of mine carries one himself, and if I were stranded in Alaska, it would be handy, but I would hate to have to fight with the thing.

10mm is for MEN. MEN carry steel guns. lol

k9870 11-27-2012 09:57 PM

the 19/23 size is more confortable in hand, i find the 17/22 unconfortable. Im getting a 19 soon, i wish there were no dumbfinger grooves but i can put up with them and get them grinded down and retextured at a later date

My buddy had to qualify with the 10mm before he was allowed to carry it and he handles it pretty bad ass.

The whole real men needs steel gun is too old fashion. Plastic fantastic is the way of the future

I guess pistol whippin' is going to become a lost art, then

SPEMack618 11-28-2012 12:24 AM

*head-desk*

As much as loathe 9x19mm FMJ NATO hardball, I took solace in the fact that my M-9 was a solid chunk of steel.

The M-45 is almost enough to make we want to re-enlist in the Marines. Almost.

Was it ever? Also you can pistol whip someone with a Glock. The slide's still metal

SPEMack618 11-28-2012 01:14 AM

Well, if the Patriot and assorted westerns are to be believed, then bfore the advent of the self contained cartridge, pistol whipping was an effective combat techinque.

Furthermore, I once saw my Platoon Sergeant, who is a deputy sheriff, in real life pistol whip a Taliban fighter who was rather velhemently resisting being flexi cuffed and shoved in the back of a Humvee.

When I queired him about it, he only replied

"Things were different before cell phones."

Well they still make the Alternate Force Block .

It seems that some people might still need to pistol whip someone.

I carry a Glock 19 on duty and a Glock 26 as my backup/off-duty pistol. Though I sometimes also carry my Glock 19 when off-duty. It's interesting to note that the OP lists Australia as his/her home. So this is really a moot question for the OP. Unless he/she is planning on moving to the U.S. and becoming a U.S. citizen.

k9870 11-28-2012 02:40 PM

I got the glock as a step up in carry pistol. If im wearing an open carry holster gun, its the CZ.

Excalibur 11-28-2012 05:35 PM

The Glock really is an everyman gun. It's simple, easy to take down and shoot, no external safeties to worry about. Point and shoot.

He/She also listed hobbies as making homemade weapons...make sense since that country won't allow you to have REAL weapons

SPEMack618 11-28-2012 07:33 PM

I refer to the Glock, and not necessarily derisively so, as the lowest common denominator of service automatics.

And that's not really an insult

SPEMack618 11-29-2012 02:15 AM

It's not intended to be. It's like the Ford Crown Vic of duty guns.

It's really heavy, old, and needs to be replaced but everyone just loves it?

funkychinaman 11-29-2012 03:16 AM

Wouldn't it be more like the Honda Civic of pistols? Simple, reliable, no frills, and plentiful?

So does that make the 1911 the Ford Mustang?

I think the M1911 is more like the Crown Vic, a timeless design that everyone keeps using simply because they can't imagine using anything else and no one else makes anything like it.

That works too, I was going with Crown Vic to continue the police analogy.

It's simple, reliable, inexpensive, and everybody can drive it.

Your higher end service pistol, Beretta and H&Ks, and 1911s would be lik the old Ford Interceptors I suppose.

BlackIce_GTS 12-07-2012 05:15 AM

One could uncharitably refer to the 1911/Crown Vic as "outdated but effective".
It's hard to draw parallels between guns and cars, carrying a 100 year old handgun (design) is a sensible choice, driving a 100 year old car every day is... let's say 'eccentric'. And we've only been making cars for 120 years, how long have we been making guns? 500 at least?

Oh, Glocks. 18C. Yes I know it's silly and useless, I just like full auto pistols for some reason. And you can put it on single, then it's a 17C.

Who doesn't like full auto pistols? They are fun to shoot.

People who want to be able to hit the broad side of a barn from ten paces?

Excalibur 12-07-2012 08:19 PM

You can hit stuff with a Glock 18 or any full auto weapon. It's all about trigger control and firing in bursts

through lots of ammo.

Jessie Abbate can show you how to run a G18 properly

Mazryonh 12-16-2012 09:43 PM

The Glock 20 and 29 are my favourite. Until Glock makes something in .41 Magnum or better, those two will remain the most powerful Glocks ever made. Even if they did make a Glock in (for example) .44 Magnum, 10mm Auto remains the most powerful practical service handgun cartridge around.
