no accurate FPS games

seen no games where you get a real sight picture. i love how you can get clear view on 3 planes of sight (front rear sights and target) and guns never jam, seem to have little to no recoil, and desert eagles are actuallly uber weapons in every game although they really suck in real life. When is an accurate shooter coming?

I haven't played "America's Army" in about 5 years now...but I remember that game had jams and jam clearing (though only on M16s and M4s, not AKs). I also remember thinking that the recoil and the way that movement threw off one's sight picture was pretty realistic. And this is a game that first came out in 2002...

i love how people think aks cant jam, its funny when someone's norinco/wasr or whatever they have jams on the range. Rugged desighn isnt foolproof to poor gun maintenance. Sight picture ill never get over, or the games that give a m249 damage stats above an m60 or something, because the m249 and g36c and deegle 50 are wonder weapons. I ahte short barreled 556 guns and deegs and the jam-o-matic drum fall off m249. Thats personal weapon bias though. The core gameplay is never accurate.

I know what you guys mean. I first rented CoD4 expecting a decently realistic shooter, then I was shocked to find optic-equipped M4s with their front sight posts removed entirely. I've never seen or played a single game that has weapon malfunctions in it.

Movies are the same way, at least in terms of malfunctions. I've only seen one movie that had them (Bravo Two-Zero), two if you count Black Hawk Down when one of the Deltas calls out "I'm jammed" while holding his head up in full view of the Somali machine gun team.

Most people i know train playing cod4....its funny. Far cry 2 had jams but it was based on how long youve fired weapon, you can crawl through swamps with an m16 and it will work well, put 200 rounds through an ak and it jams....
its funny the deegle is more reliable than a makarov....

There are plenty of movies/TV shows that depict jams. "44 Minutes", "Ultimate Force" (routinely), etc. Interestingly, there are some movies where you see a gun jam and then a split second later, the jam is cleared without the character handling the weapon having time to clear it (this is due to editing).

Far Cry 2 has jams in it and the guns can even be destroyed. I've had a rusty MAC-10 blow up in my hand. However, like some games, all the guns are completely reversed, or the ejection ports are placed on the left side, so that you can see shell casings eject. Kinda stupid. I'm fairly sure that Far Cry 2, and even Call of Duty 4 blur out the sights when aiming, at least in single player. The closest game I've played with realism is Insurgency.

Why, EOTechs don't need front sights to aim properly, they are built to be a one sight optic (like a scope). Same with the Tascos and such.

I just shot an OA-98 with an EOTech 552 sight and I hit where I aimed, without a front sight required.

You can actually see guys serving today with M4A1s in this fashion. It makes aiming easier.

I played the demo for "CoD 4" and really didn't understand what everyone thought was so realistic about it. Even though I almost never play PC/video games anymore, I really didn't find it a whole lot more realistic than games I played 4-5 years ago.

I haven't tried "Far Cry 2" yet. I don't think my laptop could handle it...

Far Cry 2 gets boring pretty quick, and CoD 4 does as well. Only reason I'll go back into Far Cry 2 is for the M79. I'll probably screencap the page soon. As far as the series goes, though, the original Far Cry was the best. I still play and enjoy it.
