Yep. I love diversity.

What do these guys have against helmets? In all of the Brazillian pics, I don't think I've seen a single guy wearing a helmet, or any sort of cover for that matter. I know a helmet won't stop a bullet, but at least it'd be protection against thrown projectiles, and it'd protect the wearer when he's riding in the bed of a pickup. Some of them are wearing body armor, so they're at acknowledging that people might be shooting back.

Not to mention a crew ct in bearing sun will lead to a burnt scalp. A cover would help a lot.

A ballcap would at least shield their eyes from the sun. Isn't it summer down there right now?

Even a hockey helmet would protect against wood and concrete splinters and chips from ricochets.

Wild west down there. Or is it the Wild South?

The Wild West is too modest a comparison. Rio de Janeiro's favelas are more like Basra. Or Kandahar. Brazilian drug dealers operate like insurgents more than criminals.
