The right state, the right year, the right gun.

Haha, fitting for the hundredth year anniversary, and even more so since that's where Browning is from originally.

I guess that means Oregon's state gun will be the Calico?

ManiacallyChallenged 01-27-2011 05:41 AM

:) Woot.
What do you think your state gun should be?

Yournamehere 01-27-2011 05:48 AM

Your gun has to have been designed by a resident of that state, or for an easier time picking, built in the particular state. Connecticut gets a choice between like all Colt products except the 1911, and Maryland gets the M9/92FS.

California has quite a few gun companies, AMC, AMT, Claridge, Bryco and Jennings count (prior to Jiminez buying them out and moving to Nevada in 2006) though I believe most of our gun companies do not make iconic weapons that are well known to the world.

I don't think any original designs have come out of Texas. We have High Standard, STI and LaRue though

funkychinaman 01-27-2011 12:13 PM

I guess New Jersey's best claim would be the Colt Paterson, but given that most people are unfamiliar with it, and that New Jersey is very unfriendly to guns, I doubt we'll ever see it. (Sam Colt wasn't from NJ, but it was built in Paterson, hence the name.) Maybe someone can propose a compromise and name the Picatinny Rail the official state firearm accessory.

what about Alabama?

Spades of Columbia 01-27-2011 02:55 PM

I guess Montana would get the Shiloh Sharps!...Since no real montanian would claim Coopers.

Official state gun of California.

They are specifically California legal.

I kind of want one just for the novelty.

I looked it up and the flash suppressor is a no go, but there's no law against the bayonet lug like the federal assault weapons ban.

The only gun manufacturer in Wyoming (I think) is Freedom Arms.

Yournamehere 01-28-2011 01:05 AM

I like that bottom one with the invisible upper receiver.

I hope they say "the m1911 is the sate gun" instead of "colt 1911." Just saying.

ManiacallyChallenged 01-29-2011 07:35 AM

Oh man, Calico is in Oregon? I didn't know that!
Those California guns are some kind of crime against humanity.

Think they've been saying "Browning M1911"

k9870 01-29-2011 03:47 PM

I think its stupid all the antis are complaining that the 1911 shouldnt be state gun since its semiauto and the arizona shooting was a semiauto. The worst domestic terror act weve ever had was a fertelizer bomb and nobody tries to ban that shit.

Cause you can't really ban the ingredients to a home made bomb, but you can ban a gun. Anyway, I think it's stupid as well. A State deciding a gun for the State has nothing to do with a recent shooting.
