ISIS claims errant US airdrop

The video showed some grenades and mortar rounds. What caught my eye and causes me to be skeptical is the fact that the grenades are Mk2 Pineapples and M61s. Do we even still have any of those in inventory?

I was thinking that this is a leftover from other bases' armory, maybe?

I believe the supplies are actually from Kurdish stocks, and the US is just doing the dropping.

Not that big a deal. The Taliban captured a seacan full of C7A1s and C9A1s from the ANA on my tour, and everyone was freaking out until someone pointed out that if they can't hit anything at 50M with an AK or RPD, they're not going to do any better with Western kit. It's not like ISIS is short of weapons.

What makes the claim suspicious to me is that this supposed US airdrop contains items that, AFAIK, we haven't produced or used in decades. I was always under the impression that our stocks of leftover M61s and Mk2s were all but used up in the 60s and 70s, if not earlier in the case of the Mk2.

All the photos I saw was of rusty MkIIs carelessly thrown in the crate.

I seriously doubt any loadmaster would let that on his plane. I think it's just old grenades they put in a crate for propaganda.

Plus I recall hearing the errant supply drop was hit with an air strike.
