It is the standard British army holster for their Gen 4 Glock 17s. In a rare case of a modular bit of kit being acquired, they actually use it modularly. The holster itself can fit onto the thigh rig seen here, a regular belt loop, or a MOLLE adapter plate to fit it to the VIRTUS webbing or vest.

Spartan198 12-13-2017 05:31 PM

Thanks. It's a really nice holster.

commando552 12-13-2017 05:54 PM

Actually, I just noticed that is a slightly different holster to that one. The one in that image is their level 2 holster, rather than their level 3 one. This image is from the public "unveiling" of the British Army's new pistols/holsters, but I think these level 2 ones might just be stand ins as in any images of them being used they are the level 3 ones (here, here, here and here).

I just had to do a captcha thing to access the main site, what's that about?

I just found out that Black Bart is buried in a cemetery just a few miles away from where I live.

At least it's better than Star Trek: Nemesis.

JCordell or anyone, what's the best bullet weight for .357 magnum, in regards to lifespan of the revolver? I'm not going to be shooting any more .38's out of my 686, and don't want to shoot it loose any faster than I need to

TBH I think you could've posted this in its own topic in the 'guns' forum, given it is quite relevant - or just messaged him directly. Though I'm glad you didn't do the latter because that is a good question - one I'm curious about as well given my recent acquisition in the form of my Model 13. Others may well be interested also.

I just keep hearing 125 grain is harder on them, and that's all I have right now

Spartan198 02-22-2018 04:29 AM

Just heard that Axel Rose is taking Malcolm Young's place in AC/DC. Not quite sure how to feel about that.

I thought it was "Axl Rose" because he wanted it to be an anagram of "oral sex?"

The 125 grain provides the best ballistics against two legged types, but it is hard on the revolver. The 686 is designed to withstand a lot of shooting, but the 125 grain isn't the most comfortable to shoot either. I would go with the 158 grain load if you're going to go with magnums exclusively. You could also look into shooting magnum cartridges that have been loaded to 38 Special +P or +P+ specs. That way you won't get the dreaded cylinder ring from shooting the shorter 38 special cartridge.

The 125 grain semi-jacketed hollow point load (especially the old Remington load) beat the hell out of the forcing cone on the Model 19 and Model 65. It wasn't really an issue for the Model 27/28. Also the Ruger GP100 is a very solid platform. The 686 has a full forcing cone as well and will handle magnum loads. No revolver is immune though and if you shoot thousands of magnum loads it will wear out the revolver.

Excalibur 02-26-2018 04:17 PM

So now I need to buy a new TRS-25 for my backpack gun. I did some running and gun drills last weekend and tripped. I recovered to finish the drill, because you don't stop shooting because you fall in that situation. I got back up and realized my gun hit the dirt at the "right" angle and a rock smacked right into the glass and there's a hairline fracture on the glass. It was only the glass that's closer to me and not the opposite side where the actual red dot is, so the thing's still zero

Romania does not mess around when it comes to arming river patrol boats.

S&Wshooter 02-28-2018 03:21 AM

Thanks for the info, jcordell! Although I find 125gr perfectly comfortable to shoot, my range ammo from now on will be the 158's; if I ever handload I may do as you suggest and just make .357 Magnum length .38 Specials

StanTheMan 03-04-2018 06:12 AM

Same here, JCordell, thanks for the info.

And Tim, I agree.. that's a f'n patrol boat. Man..

It was a terrible movie and no one wants any reminder that it ever existed.

I've always looked at the PT 92 and thought, "what this really needs is to look like one of those rulers that come in pre-filled school pencil cases."

S&Wshooter 03-16-2018 12:01 AM

If you're going to befuck a handgun, a PT92 wouldn't be a bad choice. It's cheap and probably will last you a while, not like you're messing up anything amazing

Well, Scotland has just convicted Count Dankula of a crime for telling a joke. I think they're trying to return to barbarity in the most roundabout way possible.

I I just got back today from a 4-day trip to the National Archives to look up some aircraft stuff. Found most of what I was looking for as well.

Jcordell 04-21-2018 06:56 PM

Feeling sorry for myself today. Everybody hating cops (again) because of the Starbucks Incident and the two deputies blown away while eating lunch at a Chinese Restaurant in Florida. Tell me again why I'm doing this job? Then some random stranger pays for my coffee at the local coffee shack. No idea who she is. Okay so maybe things aren't as bad as they seem.
