Gun Spec Template

Seeking other admin's thoughts regarding the competing templates for the gun specifications. Take a look at my user page at the end to see what the new template a user wants to use.

I'm not an admin but I'd like to get in that this website is not a gun encyclopedia and that specifications should be kept brief. The new format on the AK-47 page in my opinion should be reverted back to the original form.

Quote:

ORIGINAL FORMAT

Gun Name
(years produced)

Type
Capacity
Caliber
Fire Modes (RPM is included)

ex.
M16
(1963 - Present)

Type:
Assault Rifle
Capacity: 20, 30 round box magazines
Caliber: 5.56x45mm NATO or .223
Fire Modes: Safe/Semi/Auto (700-950 RPM)

Reasonably brief is the guideline, I'd say that would be the minimum a page should have, not the maximum. Some of the specs do get excessive with things like rifling twist and such, but things like length aren't a problem.

I'll look over the templates later.

I'm not an admin either but I'd like to input my 2 cents... As has been said, this isn't a gun encyclopedia. Whats more, his format is messy and confusing. No colons between information, no bullet points... Also, if it ain't broke why fix it?? Whats wrong with the standard format?

Why spend time changing all the gun pages to a new format? That time could be much better spent converting these pages to table format. I think this guy needs to spend less time trying to change the way things are and more time improving stuff under the current rules. (And YES, I am aware that I myself made the exact same mistake when I first joined the site. Since then I have devoted at least 80% of my time on the site to just converting gun pages from list format to table format).

Just my 2 cents.

Well if alot of information is included then the information should use some kind of box template similiar to wikipedia to clean things up.
