Comped Series 70

1 Attachment(s)
My dad's personal favorite firearm and his home defense sidearm, a Colt Series 70 .45 with pachmyr grips, was discovered to be getting a little rusty from sitting unused for a while. So we took it out to the shop and I stripped and cleaned it for him.

I've been trying to convince him to put a compensator on it ever since I'd seen it but he refused every time. So this time I convinced him by telling him how flimsy the barrel bushing was for the Series 70 models, and showed him how nice the blued comp looked on it. It installed with no fitting and turned the gun into a recoiless tack driver.

Sexy, ain't it?

Yes it is.

How effective is the compensator?

I'd say it cuts the recoil down 40%. Instead of feeling the pistol buck in your hands you can feel the slide chambering the new round.

Nice looking gun, the comp gives it that long slide look. Those comps are on ebay aren't they? Around 30 or $40?

This is the only thing this guy is selling anymore, but this is the same thing I bought and the same seller. I bought nickel and mil-spec blued ones though for $50 each. These are 25 bucks more unfortunately.

Yeah I did some searching, on their website they have the blued and nickel for $45. If I had a stainless gun I guess it would worth the extra $.

As sexy as a series 70 can be.....im a modernist when it comes to 1911s, i like a lowered ejection port with the stainless barrel showing, and a 3 hole trigger and commander hammer . It has some old school charm to it though.

I prefer the old-school plain look. But I did buy this one a few days ago. Around $570 with the shipping and FFL fees.

It's an early Loaded model, I don't think they were available with the checkering and mag-well, Springfield could have done it though. It also came with 3 Wilson combat mags.

I need front strap chackering, old guns have some style but i want to feed hollowpoints and have a short light trigger pull. Older and especilly military issue 1911 were loose fitted and not well tuned.
